It’s the first day of freshman year. Like every other student, I was nervous and scared at
the same time. I remember my mom telling me, “It’s your first day. Remember to not slack off
and do all of your work.” Of course, I didn’t listen to her. I was doing pretty well in the
beginning, making sure I turned in all of my work and classwork. November came, and I started
to slack off. I turned in some of my work but the rest I wouldn’t. Looking at my grades, I felt
Summer was finally here. I wasn’t happy at all. I got a letter in the mail saying I needed
to attend summer school. I enjoyed the week of vacation I had until I started. When I got to the
sign-in table, they had me written down for the wrong classes. The next thing you know, I was
on my way home. I didn’t need to take summer classes. Sophomore year started, and I got the
same advice from my mom. “Remember to not slack off and do all of your work.” I knew those
Once again, I started off doing great, but then, the laziness kicked in. I ended up failing
one class and low grades in the rest of my classes. My mom was disappointed in me and I was
disappointed in myself, too. I remember telling myself, “C’mon, Destinee, I know you can do
it!” Summer came around which meant, SUMMER SCHOOL. Since I didn’t take summer
school for freshman year, I had to take two classes. They gave me English nineB and Geometry.
Junior year was finally here. I automatically knew it was going to be my hardest year. I
remember my family telling me, “It’s the second to last year. You're almost done.” I knew this
time I really had to focus on my school work. I started off doing great but there was always that
one class that someone will mess up in. For me, it was Algebra two. Math has always been my
hardest subject. I did as many things I was able to do. I didn’t pass my first semester. Second
semester is gere and I was determined to pass my classes with a C or better. I started to do all of
my work, turning in late assignments and going to tutoring. I knew I was going to pass. Towards
the end, it was all about the finals. I needed to pass two of them to make sure I did well. I ended
In conclusion, 12th grade is finally here. I got my classes and noticed I had two free
blocks and service. That’s when I knew I accomplished my goal. I ended up passing all of my
classes with two C’s, two A’s and four B’s. This accomplishment had me receive HONOR
ROLL and my family was so proud of me. In the end, I knew I was able to do it. I knew I could
get the good grades. That’s the mentality I live with for the 12th grade.
