The Importance of Game Sense approach in PE Classes.

Miss El Sayed - 17710493
What is Game Sense?

• Game sense is a teaching approach which provides opportunities

for students to engage with and modify games.

• Students are encouraged to develop their skills and understand

tactics/strategies to participate in the game.

• Charlesworth (1994, Cited in Pill, 2013) states that the game

sense approach challenges the traditional approach of teaching
PDHPE by having a greater emphasis on skill building.
Game sense & Fundamental Movement Skills

“Having mastery of the Fundamental Movement Skills such as

throwing, catching, running and jumping opens up a vast array of
sport, leisure and recreation options for the individual”.(Board of
Studies, 2007)The key focus of game sense approach is to enhance
students fundamental movement skills, this is developed through
game play, sports, gymnastics and other recreational activities.
