Guardian
Angels
Catholic
Church
is
offering
a
Music
Director
position
for
$1,200
to
$1,600
a
month
depending
upon
education
level
attained
and
experience.
The
number
of
hours
worked
each
week
varies
from
12-‐15
with
a
greater
number
of
hours
during
Easter
and
Christmas
time.
Tasks
include:
• Choosing
hymns
and
mass
music
for
each
Sunday
based
on
the
themes
of
the
weekly
assigned
scripture
readings
and
the
Church
Year.
• Scheduling
and
training
Cantors/Pianists
for
the
three
masses
each
weekend
(Saturday
5:00
pm,
Sunday
9:00
and
10:30
am)
• Cantoring
and
playing
(piano)
for
Berthoud
Living
Center
Mass
(3rd
Monday
of
each
month
at
10:00
am),
cantoring
and
playing
for
Youth
Mass
(1st
Sunday
of
each
month
at
6:00
pm)
• Scheduling
and
planning
music
for
other
liturgical
occasions
• Managing
payroll
and
scheduling
for
the
music
ministry
• Serving
as
choir
director
of
Guardian
Angels
Choir.
• Choosing
choir
anthems
based
on
the
themes
of
the
weekly
assigned
scripture
readings
and
the
Church
Year.
• Planning
and
conducting
choir
rehearsals
each
week
while
the
choir
is
in
session.
Choir
rehearsals
are
currently
scheduled
for
7:15-‐8:15
p.m.
each
Wednesday.
• Have
familiarity
with
Gregorian
Chant.
• Planning
and
providing
music
for
Weddings
and
Funerals
(this
often
involves
meeting
with
the
family)
• Attending
the
monthly
staff
meeting
(currently
meets
at
3:15
on
the
first
Monday
of
the
Month)
• Scheduling
piano
tuning
and
maintenance
• Managing
sound
system.
Scheduling
maintenance
and
repair
• Submitting
necessary
material
to
parish
secretary
for
publication
in
the
bulletin
• Assisting
in
recruiting
cantors,
pianists,
and
choir
members
• Determining
and
submitting
annual
music
budget
to
the
Finance
Council
• Learning
the
structure
of
Catholic
liturgies
Applicants
desirably
have
a
solid
familiarity
with
Catholic
liturgy
and
music,
as
well
as
skills
in
keyboard,
cantoring,
and
music
directing.
Additionally
they
should
have
administrative,
scheduling,
and
management
skills.
Communication,
hospitality,
and
collaboration
are
our
primary
values;
you
will
be
working
with
a
variety
of
people
in
this
position.
You
are
asked
to
sign
a
Code
of
Conduct
with
the
Archdiocese
of
Denver.
You
must
also
sign
a
payroll
authorization
form
at
the
beginning
of
employment.
You
must
also
be
certified
as
completing
the
Child
Protection
course
with
the
parish.
The
parish
reimburses
for
appropriate
conferences
and
in
services
in
liturgy
and
music
that
support
a
music
director’s
work;
you
can
apply
to
the
pastor
when
these
come
to
your
attention.
The
Music
director
is
a
non-‐exempt
part
time
hourly
position.
All
hours
are
agreed
upon
with
the
pastor
in
advance.
In
the
course
of
employment
elements
of
this
job
description
may
change
by
addition
or
deletion
of
duties,
but
only
after
discussion
with
the
pastor
and
parish
finance
council.
There
is
an
annual
review
and
evaluation.
This
contract
is
for
one
year
or
15
months.
This
position
reports
to
the
pastor,
although
often
this
position
requires
unsupervised
and
independent
work.
Ideally
this
position
uses
parish
computers
as
all
music
is
proprietary
to
the
parish,
especially
use
of
copyrighted
materials
through
OneLicense.
Computer
skills
are
needed
in
Office
Suite
products.
