INTRODUCTION
• A truss bridge is a type of bridge whose load-bearing superstructure
is composed of a truss, “a structure of connected elements usually
forming triangular units”. The connected elements (typically straight)
may be stressed from tension, compression, or sometimes both in
response to dynamic loads.
• Load applied to truss is transmitted to the joint causing each
individual member to be subjected to either tension or compression .
PROBLEM STATEMENT
• A steel truss bridge has been designed for (50 m X 4) span situated on
Vaigai River Madurai on Tamil Nadu, India which comes under
earthquake zone II.
SCOPE OF PROJECT
• The scope of the project has been limited to design and analysis of
simple Warren steel truss bridge in Madurai. Main components of the
steel truss were analysed using STAAD pro software.
• The purpose of the study was to design an economical, safe and
simple to assemble steel truss bridge.
