IN THE COMMUNITY
May 18: Armed Forces Day
In recognition of May being “National Military Appreciation Month,” MLB will, for the first time, observe Armed
Forces Day, a day where citizens unite and honor military heroes for their service in support of the United
States. On Armed Forces Day, traditionally celebrated on the third Saturday of the month, MLB players and
all on-field team personnel will wear camouflage-designed caps with their uniforms, as well as optional
camo-themed socks, as a visual demonstration of baseball’s tribute to those who serve. The left chest of
each uniform will feature a patch centered on the “stars & stripes” silhouetted batter, while the right side of
caps will feature a five-starred emblem to represent the five branches of the U.S. Military.
