SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATION

This chapter provides the summary, findings, conclusions, and recommendations

based from the results of the experiment.

Summary

This study aimed to know the effectivity of durian husk as an insecticide for

mosquitoes. The researchers used two groups for the insecticide, the control and

experimental group. A commercially-sold insecticide was used for the control group

while the durian husk insecticide was used for the experimental group. Mosquitoes

were caught and were enclosed in a jar. They were sprayed once with the durian husk

insecticide and the researchers observed the time of their death. There were twenty

trials, each have mosquito inside the jar. In the experimental group, nineteen were

proven to be effective while Trial four’s mosquito did not die. In the control group, all

the trials were effective and the mosquitoes died faster than those of the experimental

group. The processed data showed that the average time of the control group is lesser

than the experimental group and showed that there is a significant difference between

the two groups.

Hence, the result of the study showed that durian husk can be used as an

insecticide for mosquitoes. But, using commercially-sold insecticide is more

preferable.

Conclusion
 Based on the data and the results of the study, the researchers can conclude that

durian husk is effective as an insecticide for moquitoes. But compared to those of

commercially-sold insecticides, it is not preferable to use because durian husk

insecticide kills mosquitoes slower than most insecticides.

Recommendation

Based on the data and the results of the study, the following statements are

recommended by the researchers:

1. Buy a fresh durian for the experiment.

2. Use gloves when cutting the husk.

3. Spray the durian husk insecticide to the mosquito as quick as possible.

Mosquitoes have short lifespan.

4. Close the jar with a mosquito net. Do not enclose it in a closed space.

5. Start the timer immediately after spraying the insecticide to the mosquitoes.

Since the study concluded that commercially sold insecticides are more

preferable, the researchers recommend to find more ways and alternatives that would

make durian husk insecticide as effective as the insecticides sold in markets.
