COURSE OBJECTIVES

To appreciate and differentiate Eastern and Western world-view.


To understand how art and craft has been a very important aspect of culture and continue to do so.
To cultivate aesthetic sensibility to observe, analyse and appreciate various art forms.
To develop the vocabulary required for interpreting and analysing the aesthetics of an object.

COURSE STRUCTURE

To chronologically situate the art and design movements and understand the socio-cultural context in which they are produced.
To understand the cultural climate in which Design became a formal discipline.

To understand the paradigm shift from representation to abstraction.


To conceptually co-relate and appreciate how different ideologies, philosophies and aesthetic sensibilities have given way to different visual
environments, styles and expressions.
