College Plan Comparative Analysis

My whole life I wanted to attend UC Irvine, this process has helped me understand the

amount of work and money it takes to go to college as well as how complicated it is applying for

college. I did not realize how unprepared I was and doing this research has helped me understand

the process of getting into a college and what I would be interested in majoring in. This project

has helped me understand what school benefits me the most and why. It has strengthen my

choice in attending UC Irvine because they have a good kinesiology program in comparing both

colleges and based on all the research and data I collected. I have decided to make UC Irvine as

my first choice over Cal State Fullerton due to the tuition, demographics, and logistics.

For UC Irvine, the cost of tuition is approximately $13,300 and I am planning to dorm on

campus. My monthly income is approximately $3,100. If I get the financial help that I need, and

qualify for pell grant, I would have a total of $36,610. Since I plan on dorming, I would have to

pay an approximate amount of $15,263. I would not be paying rent and my parents will be

paying my cell phone, insurance, and medical care. In comparison to Cal State Fullerton, tuition

would be an approximate amount of 6,500 but I will not be living on campus and I would be

spending more money on transportation.

 Based on my research, the three major demographics that influence my choice where

gender rate, ethnicity breakdown, and the graduation rate. UC Irvine has more females than

males attending the school. Due to this information, I have a chance of getting into the school

because I am a female. UC Irvine has a mixture of ethnicities attending their school which I

personally like because it is a great opportunity to meet people of different ethnicities. They also

has a higher graduation rate.

According to the logistics based on housing, transportation, resources and climate

it really influenced my decision in choosing this school. Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine are

near each other so the climate isn't that different, but for transportation it would be more

beneficial for me to dorm at UC Irvine then to drive to and from at Cal State Fullerton. I will not

be dorming at Cal State Fullerton and I would be spending a great amount on transportation and

parking.

In conclusion, this project has been beneficial because I learned about many different

things such as tuition, pell grant, etc. This project has also helped me see what benefits me the

most. I definitely feel more confident in applying for schools and making a decision on what

school I would like to attend.
