Coming in at eight in the hierarchy of

the Dasa Mahavidyas, Bagalamukhi is
the most powerful Vidya for Upasana.
Normally, she is depicted with her left
hand catching hold of the opponent’s
tongue and striking him with a mace in
the right hand. Because of this striking
nature, she is also known as
Vakstambhanakari (paralyser of
enemy’s speech).
