Landscape architecture is a reliable career path because it provides countless

unique and intriguing job opportunities such as environmental education officer , field

officer and consultant. It can also provide numerous health and financial benefits which

can help you out later in life like after retirement. Landscape architecture is such a

reliable choice for a career. The title can also be misleading as not all aspects of the job

required you to be outside getting your hands dirty.

Landscape architecture requires years of hard work and education to achieve

but once there your creativity and imagination can help to create works of art for all to

enjoy. To get to the level of expertise that you need to become a landscape architect. “A

bachelors or masters degree is necessary and to meet requirements of the state and to

also be licensed” (Bureau of labor statistics). Once you have met all of these

requirements you will be able to join the field and begin your journey in landscape

architecture. When you start out you salary will be around 48,000$ a year and usually

after 3-5 years you can make up to 63,000$ a year if you are being successful and are

progressing (owlguru). These are just a quick overview of what landscape architecture

has to offer if you choose to pursue it.

The benefits that come once you have entered this field of work can vary but

what you can expect from most firms can give benefits such as health plans, paid

vacations and holidays (CollageGrad). With benefits like these they can set you up for

plans after retirement which can help out a lot of people especially for those who plan to

stick with this career for a while. Some other benefits that come along with the job are

that you are able to utilize your imagination and creativity to help create works of art that

other people can enjoy or work on projects that are self rewarding. One of the most

famous examples of landscape architecture is central park in New York City. This just

one of many examples throughout the world that have originated from landscape

architects. You could end up creating something that is a landmark and an attraction

that brings people from all around to view your work and that in itself can be quite

rewarding.The job as many would think actually doesn't mean working outside 24/7 but

instead some of that time is devoted to you to work in an office space in order to meet

with clients , work on costs , and planning out and organizing projects. Not all of the job

requires you to be in an office , some of it requires you to be out in the workzone

helping out and directing those to bring the project to life. (Mckay)

Yet there are those who would argue that landscape architect isn't the best

career choice to follow and that there are countless other options out there that take the

same amount of effort and time yet be much more beneficial to you. Some are quick to

point out the fact that finding work may be difficult as well once work is found long work

hours as well as the complexity of some of the projects you may face while working.

While all this may be true and it may not be for everyone just focusing on the negative

won't do you much good as there are plenty of demand for skill used in landscape

architecture. Some of the skills that can come in handy are being able to understand

technical plans , attention to detail, communication and leadership skills as well as

creativity and great interpretation skills.(ucas) A lot of these can be carried over and

used in similar jobs related to landscape architecture such as a environmental

education officer , field officer and consultant. So not all aspects of being a landscape

architect can be negative they can be a positive not only in that specific area but used in

different aspects in life which is good to have moving forward.

Overall even with its downside landscape architecture has and always will

be a reliable career path that you can take. it is one i personally would pursue. As it

provides a lot of jobs and can be a job in which you are passionate about and that can

go along way in how you do your job and the work you provide. It also provides benefits

that can help you later in life which can help you down to road. Simply by just doing

some research can go along also way to educate yourself a little bit before deciding. All

in all Landscape architecture is a unique and interesting job and career to look into

though i may not be for everyone it is definitely something to look into if you are curious

as i have done and i would personally choose this as a career in which i would want to

start on.
