Dear Judges,

Hi, My name is Isaiah Scarborough my topic is on students choosing their own education and
public schools systems needing to bring more resources and opportunities to schools. The school
system should bring more trade and businesses to schools so students will have important skills
after graduating.

High school students should choose their own career path because it gives them an early
advantage in learning certain skills they will need in the future, they will be able to make
decisions consistently without getting frustrated, and it will increase their chances of finding the
right profession. Some additional knowledge that I have learned is the school system will never
change because as long as they are paying for the education, they will only give us what they feel
we need.  

I came up with my SLE hours within a few days of getting the project. Instead of trying to get
people to try to change how the school system is, I wanted students to be openly aware of what
should be important to them than what is important to the school system and what needs to be
changed for the benefits of the students. I created a survey and flyers to get high students and
teachers involved in a topic that most people question about the school system now.

What I have learned from my topic is how focused the school system is about money than the
actual education of students. I’ve also learned that it will take much more than a project or a few
people to make this change. Instead of focusing on the teachers pay how about focusing on the
students learning more, which will benefit future generations of America. I did not make a huge
impact, probably not even a dent but I did make many people aware of my topic and what I stand
for which hopefully will get schools to focus more on students education more.

The topic that I’ve chosen has made me realize the importance of education only if it is given
and consumed in the right manner. I have gained extra knowledge from this topic and in the
future can help change how the education system works.
