Socioeconomic factors-In pregnant women low socio economic status can increase the risk
of adverse pregnancy outcome. Patients belonging to low socio economic status have a higher
incidence of anemia, preterm labour, growth retarded babies, Over crowding
Social environment.
Demographic factors-
Obstetrical history-Age>30 years and pregnancy following a long period of infertility, after
induction of ovulation are of high risks, anemia, bleeding, hypertension, toxemia, and urinary
tract infections,malnourished.
Unskilled attendant
Reproductive factors
Two or more previous miscarriage or previous induced abortion. These cases further
run the risk of further abortion or pretern delivery.
Previous stillbirth, neonatal death or birth of babies with congenital abnormality.
Previous preterm labour or birth of a IUGR or macrosomic baby
Grand multiparity
Previous Caesarean section or hysterotomy.
Third stage abnormalities(PPH) this has particular tendency to recur.
Previous infant with Rh-insoimmunisation or ABO incompatibility.
Smoking
Tobacco chewging
Drug use
