SAFETY INFORMATION

Safety information
The lightning flash with arrowhead, within an equilateral triangle, is intended to alert the user to the
presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient
magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
Caution: To prevent the risk of electric shock, do not remove cover (or back). No user-serviceable parts
inside. Refer servicing to qualified service personnel.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of
important operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the
appliance.

CAUTION
To prevent electric shock do not use this (polarized) plug with an extension cord, receptacle or other
outlet unless the blades can be fully inserted to prevent blade exposure.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

1. Read these instructions.
2. Keep these instructions.
3. Heed all warnings.
4. Follow all instructions.
5. Do not use this apparatus near water. This apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or
splashing, and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
6. Clean only with dry cloth.
7. Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions. The apparatus should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug or similar surface that
may block the ventilation openings. The apparatus must not be placed in a built-in installation,
such as a closed bookcase or cabinet that may impede the flow of air through the ventilation
openings. Ventilation should not be impeded by covering the openings with items such as
newspapers, tablecloths, curtains, etc.
8. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus
(including amplifiers) that produce heat.
9. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.

4
10. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has
two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third
grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the
provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for the replacement of the
obsolete outlet.
11. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched – particularly at plugs, convenience
receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
12. Do not install in an area which impedes the access to the power plug. Disconnecting the power
plug is the only way to completely remove power to the product and must be readily
accessible at all times.
13. Power source – use only power supplies of the type specified in the operating instructions or
as marked on the appliance. If a separate power supply is included with this apparatus, do not
substitute with any other power supply – use only manufacturer-provided power supplies.
14. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
15. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has
been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been
spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or
moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped. For service, refer to qualified
service personnel, return to the dealer, or call E-Gear service line for assistance.
16. For products which incorporate batteries, please refer to local regulations for proper battery
disposal.
17. Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
18. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer or sold
with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus

3. Connections
Connectors include DC IN; OFF/ON; USB device; USB host; Y Pb,Pr; AV Rl,Rr; HDMI; LAN; SD;
SP/DIF, as below picture.

3.1 Power adapter connection

Connect the DC jack of the AC adapter to the connector marked “DC IN 12V”, plug the
other end into an electrical outlet.

To avoid damaging the power cords and power supply,

 Please do not wrap power cords around the power supply.
 Please do not jerk, knot, sharply bend power cords

9
3.2 Component : Y/Pb/Pr connection

Connect the color-coded connectors in the video group to the corresponding jacks on the TV:
red to red (red video), green to green (green video), and blue to blue (blue video).

3.3 Audio Connection

You can choose one of the below methods to connect your player. Digital audio should
produce higher-quality sound.

3.3.1 R/L Connection

Connect the color-coded connectors in the audio group to the corresponding jacks on the TV:
red to red (right audio) and white to white (left audio).

3.3.2 SP/DIF Connection

Connect one end of the optical audio cable to the player, and another end to relative digital
audio decoding system.

Note: Optical Cable is not included.

10
3.4 AV connection

Plug in the 3 color connector to the player’s A/V OUT jack and plug in the 3 color connector
to the TV’s A/V IN jack.

3.5 HDMI connection

The HDMI connector can output digital audio/video signals. Many HDTV sets and digital AV
receivers support this type of connection.

Please plug one connector of your HDMI cable to the player’s HDMI jack and the other
connector to the TV or other A/V devices’ HDMI jack.

11
3.6 DTS Playback Connection

**To playback DTS encoded contents, please ensure that you have a DTS AV Amp or LCD
TV with built-in DTS Decoder

a. Your high-def TV and AV receiver all have HDMI connections.

Using an HDMI cable, connect the MP-701 player’s HDMI output to the AV receiver’s HDMI
input. Then, connect the receiver’s HDMI video output to your high-def TV. The receiver
processes the HD audio signal and passes it to your speakers; it also processes the HD video
signal and passes it to your high-def TV. Simple, all digital, no loss in quality, and you get true
high-definition audio and video. Plus, because HDMI allows communication between
components, the audio and video “move together” when you change sources with your
receiver’s remote. Note: your AV receiver must be able to process very high-quality video
signals.

b. Your high-def TV has HDMI; but your AV receiver doesn’t.

Use a HDMI connection between TV and MP-701 player, for full high-definition video. Then,
use a coaxial digital audio connection between player and receiver. Remember: because
movies and music with DTS-HD encoded content contain a DTS Digital Surround “core”, your
older receiver will play back DTS-HD material with DTS surround audio at twice the data rate
of other DVD video surround formats.

12
3.7 LAN connection

To connect to a LAN (Local Area Network) you require a network cable,

 Please connect one of the plugs to the player’s RJ45 LAN socket,
 Please connect the other plug to your router, switch, or hub devices.

3.8 USB Storage Devices connection

The device supports USB storage devices; you can access media files including video, audio, and
pictures from USB storage devices such as USB flash drive, Portable hard disk, even on digital
camera(with memory)after connected.

 If you’re using USB HDD, make sure the player is powered on
