 In his short story The Lady, or the Tiger? Frank Stockton
explores the subject of love and jealousy. Stockton shows
that hidden under every loving relationship is the
dangerous passion of jealousy. In the story, this emotion
consumes the princess, leading to the demise of her own
lover. Stockton also says that love can be an emotion just
as dangerous as jealousy. Love resulted in the lovers trial
as well as being the root cause of the princess' envy and
heartbrokenness.
