7.0 MAINTENANCE

7.1 Repairs
Separate repair instructionsfor the different equipment are included in section B'

7.2 / rePairPrecautions
Maintenance

Notel Do notsfarf any service work on hydraulic componenfs if the hydraulic circuit
is pressurized.

lf a leakage is detected, try to tighten the screw or fitting around the leaking area'
lf this does not stop the leak, drain and open the equipmentfor repair.

lf the equipmentdoes not operate properlyor there are evidence of damage,

overhaulthe equipment in accordancewith the instructionfor the damaged
component, or contact Frank Mohn Services AS

Before opening the hydraulicpumps, always drain the oil. Always refillthe pump
housingwith clean oil upon completionof the repair operation'

Before reassembling any parts, they must be absolutely clean and free from dirt, lint
or other foreign matter.Ali parts must be washed in a cleaningfluid like High
Aromaticwhite spirit (Aromaticcontent 17-18o/o) or equal.
Note! Do not use any cleaning ftuid containing chlorinated hydrocarbons.
All o-rings and gaskets nrust be clean and carefully examined for cuts or other
damage. Replace any damaged parts.

7.3 Periodicalmaintenance

The following preventive maintenance is recommended for optimum life of the

system.

FILTER REPLACEMENT
provided that the differentialpressure switch is correct and non of the filter bypass
valves are leaking, the filter element should be replacedby a new elementafter
indicationof highlifferential pressure or if a contaminationlevel of the hydraulic oil
above 1Gl1Zaccordingto ISO 4406 has been indicated.(See also item 7 -4.2).

HYDRAULIC OIL COOLER

Inspectanodes regularlyuntil rate of consumptionis established'
Recommended i ntervals:
- Coolers with sea water every 3 months'
- Coolers with fresh water annually.

The cooler bundle tubes should be cleaned regularlywith soft brush or chemicals to
removefoulingfilm or solid contamination.
Recommended interuals:
- Coolers with sea water every 6 months, or if heat exchange rate is too low.
- Annually for coolers with fresh water, or if heat exchange rate is too low.

ANODES
Inspectionintervalsfor the zinc anodes assembledon ballastpumps and other
pumps depends mainly on time of exposure, water level in tank, water corrosivityand
temperature.
Please note that the anodes included by Framo are only intended for protectionof the
pump, not the tank.

Our standardcalculationof anode lifetimeis based upon:

- 100% exposurein seawater
- Current density when exposed in seawater: 0,1 A,/m2
-Zinc anode electrochemicalcapacity: 780 Ah/kg

It is recommended to inspect the anodes annually until rate of consumption is

established.Further inspectionintervalsto be based on experience.
