TOOLS

Screwdriver - is a tool, manual or powered, for turning (driving or

removing) screws. A typical simple screwdriver has a handle and a shaft, and a
tip that the user inserts into the screw head to turn it. The shaft is usually made of
tough steel to resist bending or twisting.
 Cross Head Screw Driver
 Flat Head Screw Driver

Crimping tool - is a tool designed to crimp or connect a connector to the end

of a cable. For example, network cables and phone cables are created using a
crimping tool to connect the RJ-45 and RJ-11 connectors to the end of the
cable.

Cable tester - is a device that is used to test the strength and connectivity of a
particular type of cable or other wired assemblies. There are a number of
different types of cable testers, each able to test a specific type of cable or wire
(some may be able to test different types of cables or wires). The cable tester
can test whether a cable or wire is set up properly, connected to the
appropriate source points, and if the communication strength between the
source and destination is strong enough to serve its intended purpose.

Long-nose pliers - are both cutting and holding pliers used by artisans, jewelry
designers, electricians and other tradesmen to bend, re-position and cut wire. Their
namesake long nose gives excellent control while the cutting edge near the pliers'
joint provides "one-tool" convenience. Because of their long shape they are useful
for reaching into small areas where cables or other materials have become stuck or
unreachable with fingers or other means.

Side-cutting pliers (side-cutters)- are principally used for holding, bending, and
cutting thin materials or small gage wire. Side-cutters vary in size and are
designated by their overall length. The jaws are hollowed out on one side just
forward of the pivot point of the pliers.

Antistatic wrist strap /ESD wrist strap, or ground bracelet - is

an antistatic device used to safely ground a person working on very
sensitive electronic equipment, to prevent the buildup of static
electricity on their body, which can result in electrostatic
discharge (ESD). It is used in the electronics industry by workers
working on electronic devices which can be damaged by ESD, and
also sometimes by people working around explosives, to
prevent electric sparks which could set off an explosion.

Antistatic floor mat or ground mat is one of a

number of antistatic devices designed to help
eliminate static electricity. It does this by having a
controlled low resistance: a metal mat would
keep parts grounded but would short out
exposed parts; an insulating mat would provide
no ground reference and so would not provide grounding. Typical resistance is on the order of
105 to 108 ohms between points on the mat and to ground. The mat would need to be grounded
(earthed). This is usually accomplished by plugging into the grounded line in an electrical outlet.
It's important to discharge at a slow rate, therefore a resistor should be used in earthing the mat.

Soldering iron - is a hand tool used in soldering. It supplies heat to

melt the solder so that it can flow into the joint between two work
pieces.

Desoldering - is the removal of solder and components from a circuit

board for troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and salvage.

Multimeter or multitester, also known as a VOM (Volt-Ohm meter), is an electronic measuring
instrument that combines several measurement functions in one unit. A typical multimeter would
include basic features such as the ability to measure voltage, current, and resistance.

 Analog multimeters use a microammeter whose pointer moves over a scale

calibrated for all the different measurements that can be made.

 Digital multimeters - display the measured value in numerals, and may also
display a bar of a length proportional to the quantity being measured. Digital
multimeters are now far more common than analog ones, but analog multimeters are
still preferable in some cases, for example when monitoring a rapidly varying value.

Wire stripper - is a small, hand-held device used to strip the electrical

insulation from electric wires.

Paint Brush - is use for cleaning like removing dust from computer
accessories.

Magnifying glass /hand lens - is a convex lens that is used to produce

a magnified image of an object. The lens is usually mounted in a frame
with a handle

Thermal paste, heat paste, heat sink paste, thermal interface

material, or heat sink compound) - is a viscous fluid substance,
originally with properties akin to grease, which increases the thermal
conductivity of a thermal interface by filling microscopic air-gaps present
due to the imperfectly flat and smooth surfaces of the components; the
compound has far greater thermal conductivity than air (but far less than
metal). In electronics, it is often used to aid a component's thermal
dissipation via a heat sink.

Protective eye wear - is protective gear for the eyes, which comes in many
types depending upon the threat that is to be reduced. The threats can be
particles, light, wind blast, heat, sea spray or some type of ball or puck used in
sports.
Is a portable hand-held flashlight. The source of the light is usually an
incandescent light bulb or light-emitting diode (LED). A typical flashlight consists
of a light bulb mounted in a reflector, a transparent cover (sometimes combined
with a lens) to protect the light source and reflector, a battery, and a switch.

Allen wrench is a tool used to drive bolts and screws with hexagonal sockets
in their heads.

Tweezers are small tools used for picking up objects too small to be easily
handled with the human hands.

EQUIPMENT

Desktop computer - is a personal computer in a form intended for

regular use at a single location desk/table due to its size and power
requirements.

Printer - is a peripheral which makes a persistent human-readable

representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media.

Uninterruptible Power Supply / UPS - is an electrical apparatus that

provides emergency power to a load when the input power source,
typically mains power, fails.

Router - is a device that forwards data packets between computer networks.

This creates an overlay internetwork, as a router is connected to two or more
data lines from different networks. When a data packet comes in one of the
lines, the router reads the address information in the packet to determine its
ultimate destination. Then, using information in its routing table or routing policy, it directs the
packet to the next network on its journey. Routers perform the "traffic directing" functions on
the Internet. A data packet is typically forwarded from one router to another through the
networks that constitute the internetwork until it reaches its destination node.

Network switch (switching hub)- is a computer networking
device that is used to connect devices together on a computer
network by performing a form of packet switching.

Camera - is an optical instrument that records images that can be

stored directly, transmitted to another location, or both. These images
may be still photographs or moving images such as videos or movies.

USB flash drive - is a data storage device that includes flash

memory with an integrated Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface. USB
flash drives are typically removable and rewritable, and physically
much smaller than an optical disc. Most weigh less than 30 grams
(1.1 oz).As of January 2013, drives of up to 512 gigabytes (GB) were
available.

MATERIALS

Device driver (driver) - is a computer program that operates or controls a

particular type of device that is attached to a computer.

Application software - is a set of one or more programs designed to carry

out operations for a specific application. Application software cannot run on
itself but it is dependent on system software to execute. For example: MS
Word, MS Excel, Tally software, Library management system, billing
system, etc.

Operating system (OS) - is software that manages computer

hardware resources and provides common services for computer programs.
The operating system is an essential component of the system software in a
computer system. Application programs usually require an operating system
to function.

- Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) - is a cable used in computer networking
that consists of two shielded wires twisted around each. A popular type of
cable that consists of two unshielded wires twisted around each other. Due
to its low cost, UTP cabling is used extensively for local-area networks
(LANs) and telephone connections. UTP cabling does not offer as
high bandwidth or as good protection from interference as coaxial or fiber
optic cables, but it is less expensive and easier to work with.

RJ45 Connector - is a type of connector commonly used for

Ethernet networking.
The "RJ" in RJ45 stands for "registered jack" since it is a standardized
networking interface. The "45" simply refers to the number of the interface
standard. Each RJ45 connector has eight pins, which means an RJ45 cable
contains eight separate wires. If you look closely at the end of an Ethernet cable, you can
actually see the eight wires, which are each a different color. Four of them are solid colors, while
the other four are striped.
