COMMUNITIES

Welcome to the Oak Park Area

Just 9 miles west of downtown Chicago, the Oak Park Area is a visitor’s
getaway to exploring the 21 communities in Western Cook County.
Oak Park and the area’s
communities began on the American
Frontier.  In the 1830s, the first
settlers nurtured a community rich in
heritage and culture.
Today, visitors can discover
this enriched history and culture
by exploring famous architect
Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie style
homes.  This includes his Home
& Studio, Unity Temple and more
than 25 designed structures in the
neighborhood.  Visit Nobel Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winning author Ernest
Hemingway’s Birthplace and Museum, or stop by George Maher’s Pleasant
Home and experience the grandness of this prairie style home.
Pass through the communities of Berwyn, Riverside, and Cicero on historic
Route 66.  Come enjoy a theatre performance, live rock bands, or indulge in a
little shopping and dining, all right here at your fingertips.
The area is full of activities for the family too!  Spend a day or two enjoying
Brookfield Zoo, Wonder Works Museum or the Conservatory.  The area is full of
family friendly activities and festivals throughout the year.
Visitors will enjoy the area’s many attractions, shops, dining, entertainment,
and accommodations priced to meet any budget.  The Oak Park Area is an ideal
place for friends, families, or groups to visit or host a special event.  Stay at a
hotel or a B&B in the area.  Conveniently located, visit by train, car, or public
transportation.  Visit Oak Park, your experience awaits!
