Dear Reader,
As a senior, there are many opportunities for me after high school. Outside of my current activities with my
swim team I work out and PT at my RSS. My communication skills and my ability to multitask come from my
extracurricular activities in different clubs, aquatics, and reading books out loud. Playing sports requires me
focusing on the task at hand, as well as knowing what my team members are doing at all times. My swim and
water polo competitions have taught me the importance of professionalism. As a Marine, my job will require
me to work in the harsh environments to make sure the mission is accomplished. Communication will be key
in this job setting because we need to ensure that the task is understood, supervised and accomplished. I also
need to be professional when helping civilians wherever I am at home or abroad, and make sure I gain the
civilians’ trust and respect.
My experience with stress comes from my family, sports, coaches, teachers, and friends. I have taken the
initial strength test and was not satisfied. I have gained knowledge about the Marine Corps’ values, leadership
principles etc. and what it means to become one. Through my time in the Delayed Entry Program , I am also
building a strong knowledge of leadership skills. Everyone is a leader and we have to lead by example.
Motivation is key but often times people rely on it too much. Motivation is temporary. It’s not the motivation
that will get you through everything even when you hate whatever situation you’re in. It’s discipline.
Discipline is what gets you through the suck, because discipline is all the time.
I believe that I will soon be ready to attend recruit training at MCRD San Diego California in a few months.
Thank you for looking into this a giving me your time for thoughts and advices. If you ever need to contact me
I can be reached at (209)445-8034 and also eazyc47@gmail.com
Sincerely,
JC Soto
