NAME: Nivea comes from Latin Language meaning ‘snow-white’. The NIVEA
name does justice to the idea of beautiful skin, that the brand
propagates though its products. Owned by Beiersdorf AG
(German).

• Researchers from Queensland University of Technology (QUT)
might just have found the solution to this problem. They developed
a new waterproof coating made of lignin, a completely natural
water repellent. The polymer can be easily extracted
from bagasse, a byproduct of the sugar production process also
known as husk. The coating acts just as any other petroleum-based
alternative, but it is entirely eco-
friendly, recyclable and sustainable. This is the natural polymer
called lignin could be extracted and used to repel water. It’s LIGNIN BASED COATING
something that would probably be applied industrially–you won’t
buy a bottle of it or anything.

• Green coat is a new low-cost, environmentally-friendly,


hydrophobic polymer nano-composite material, which is oil, fat,
and gasoline resistant, strong, recyclable, biodegradable and
dramatically improves the properties of paper and board
packaging materials. GreenCoat improves the low barrier GREEN COATING
properties of cellulose-based materials by coating them with a
special polymer composition. Any cellulose material coated with
GreenCoat is recyclable and biodegradable – just like any
ordinary paper or paperboard and can also be included into
pulp composition
• Waterproof coating for paper industry is water-based acrylic binder, developed for providing water proof
coating on paper / paper board. Its an acrylic emulsion developed in such a way, so as to give the
desired film properties and characteristics of water resistance. High solid content results in higher water
resistance, very fine dispersion, free flowing characteristics gives easy handling, good storage ability,
100% food grade, anti bacterial / anti fungal, coating is flexible – does not crack on folding, easy to
apply, imparts gloss to the coated surface.

• Biodegradable plastic is plastic that decomposes naturally in the environment. This is achieved when
microorganisms in the environment metabolize and break down the structure of biodegradable plastic. The
end result is one which is less harmful to the environment than traditional plastics. Biodegradable plastics
can be composed of bio-plastics, which are plastics made from renewable raw materials. There are
normally two forms of biodegradable plastic, injection molded and solid. The solid forms normally are used
for items such as food containers, leaf collection bags, and water bottles.

• Water proofing latex for paper coating, we manufacture water based emulsion. This eco-friendly product,
when applied on paper or any other substrate gives an excellent water barrier to the substrate on which it
is coated and does not allow water to pe netrate. The paper coated with latex can be printed and is heat
sealable.

Inside the packaging

The two lines of width 1.5cm can help keep the tissues intact inside the box.

The circle cut out of a 8cm X 6cm waterproof paper piece will hold the wet tissues in space..
FINAL PROTOTYPE

The way of folding tissues is the same. They are placed from the side pushed below the tab, which holds
them in place. Also the triangular part of the tissue is placed outside the circle cutout so the first one is
easily pulled, following the remaining tissues.

The overall look wont change it

CONCEPT
FINAL PROTOTYPE
The Nivea packaging is made here with waterproof paper and green coat. The parameters
are taken properly into consideration. The top and bottom of contains the brand name
and price of the pack as well. The graphics here
show the use of natural ingredients in product and
packaging both (product feel) and other product
info was written in two columns. The backside has the
packaging icons, barcode, application, certification
and ingredients of the product, company details,
material details as well.
