AIRSET CASTING AT EAGLE ALLOY
Dimensional Tolerances
Airset casting, also known as no-bake casting, utilizes molds and cores made of bonded
sand. Unlike shell molds, airset molds do not need to be heated to set. Though not as
precise as shell molding, the airset process is known for its versatility, and can still produce
comparatively complex parts.
The following are the normal tolerances* that can be applied to as-cast parts produced using
the airset (no-bake) casting process.

Additional Tolerances:
*Tolerances based on experience and on STEEL CASTINGS HANDBOOK, Steel Founders Society of America.
Design recommendations:
• Minimum radius: .063” (1.6mm)
• Do not put locating points on parting line or gate/riser contacts
