Welcome to this week’s edition of the Brinsworth Manor
Junior School Newsletter

Y3 Trip to Longdendale 4th and 5th June
As part of their rocks and soils topic Y3 will be visiting
the Longdendale Environmental Centre in
Derbyshire. Falcon and half of Eagle Class will go on
Tuesday 4th June and Osprey and half of Eagle Class
will go on Wednesday 5th June. Please note this is the
first week back after half term. Children will be
spending most of the day outside and will need
backpacks, waterproof coats, walking
boots/wellingtons, school uniform and a packed
lunch. If it is sunny they will need sun hats and sun
cream.
Y3-Y5 Parent Art Afternoon/Mornings
We will be holding a series of Parent Art afternoons /
mornings for parents of pupils in years 3-5. The
afternoon sessions for Y3 and Y4 will start at 1.45pm, the
morning session for Y5 will start at 9.15am

Wednesday 12th June – Y3 Parent Art Afternoon
Wednesday 19th June – Y4 Parent Art Afternoon
Thursday 20th June – Y5 Parent Art Morning
Under 9 Cricket Fixtures
On Wednesday Brinsworth Manor Junior Under 9’s
played Canklow Woods away. In a close fought match
Brinsworth Manor Junior won 255 runs to 242. Well done
to everyone involved.
After half term the Under 9’s play Brinsworth Howarth at
home
Breakfast Bagels
On Monday we received a visit to review our Breakfast
provision. We received some very positive feedback
pace!
from the visit with 63% of children accessing the free
bagels. Fantastic news!
If anyone is interested in joining the Breakfast Club from
8am please contact the school office for more
information.

Opening doors early - Reading School
From next half term we are trialling opening our doors
to children from 8.30am. Many of our children have
said that they would like to come into school to read
or settle into the day earlier rather than be out on the
yard. We have had a number of minor incidents in
the morning that could be prevented if they came
straight into school rather than staying out on the
yard. For example: some of our younger children
being hit with balls brought from home, groups of
children falling out or children playing too rough.
All of our pupils have a right to a safe environment!
I have asked staff to monitor this situation so please
respect their decisions on the yard when they are
trying to keep your children safe.
Children have breaks, lunchtimes, the daily mile and
PE sessions, throughout the day when they can play
with equipment or support their physical
development. There will still be a staff member out
on the yard who will blow the whistle at 8.40am.

Just a reminder that our annual school target from
the local authority is 96.5%. Letters have been sent
to those pupils with 100% attendance and those
whose attendance percentage has dropped.
These letters are a reminder if a child’s
attendance has dropped. It is a statutory
requirement to keep parents informed.
Thank you to those parents who continually
support us. We will soon be awarding all children
with excellent attendance.
School Letters
We know that you all lead very busy lives. With
that in mind school letters with reply slips are
devised so that the bottom portion of the letter is
returned to school and the top part containing all
the information is retained by the parents. Please
remember to keep the part with all the relevant
information.
