AISI 410 Stainless Steel

Grade: AISI 410 Stainless Steel (UNS S41000, ASTM A 182,

A276)
Type: Usually supplied in the hardened and double tempered
condition (197-237HBW)

Notes
The grade is basically an iron chromium alloy and may be quench
and tempered similarly to low alloy steels.

Notes:

* Designations shown are based on API 6A PSL 3 requirements

Low temperature impact toughness of this grade is not as good
as other grades

Minimum hardness is based on API 6A
requirements. Maximum hardness shown is based on compliance
with NACE MR0175/ ISO 15156. Material must also be double
tempered to meet sour service requirements.

Grade is typically used for pressure containing applications such

as valve bodies, tubing hangers, also used for valve gates and
stems.

Good weldability, and so may be welded to itself or weld inlayed.

The grade does require a post weld heat treatment at 621oC min
in order to meet sour service (NACE MR017/ ISO 15156)
requirements.

The grade has a large ruling section, and it is critical that the
hardenability of the grade must be taken into account when
designing and selecting it for specific equipment.

The grade does not have good low temperature impact

toughness

Material supplied in the hardened and double
tempered conditions (NACE), however a non-NACE condition
hardened and single tempered can be supplied where applications
call for 105K min yield, however this condition significantly
reduces the impact toughness.
