Yes because we're poisoning the planet.

We are responsible for toxins in our lakes, rivers and the ocean.

We’re killing & maiming birds, fish and turtles. They died because they mistook plastic for food, ate it and

fed it to their young, or the creatures that get tangled up in fishing line or six pack rings. Here’s a video of

a pelican at my beach weighted down by beach litter. I first spotted it having trouble flying. It paddled in

to shore and as it exits the water you can see debris hanging from it. It causes accidents. It's easy for a

child, the elderly or someone with poor eyesight to trip or stumble over litter. I once stepped down off a

curb onto a glass bottle that was almost invisible, tucked against the curb. It caught me completely by

surprise. I was thrown off balance as my foot unexpectedly came out from under me as the glass rolled

forward. I don't normally wear sneakers but was glad i had them on that day because it made me more

sure-footed and able to quickly regain my balance. Litter also causes numerous traffic accidents, even

fatalities, as drivers swerve to avoid litter on the highway. It causes fires. In dry conditions a smoldering

cigarette butt can create a fire that kills humans, wild animals and destroys forests and fields. The senseless

act of littering can cause wildfires that roar through neighborhoods resulting in people losing their homes,

their families, their pets and costing millions of dollars in medical care and rebuilding. Waste thrown into

water will, in all likelihood, find its way out into the ocean. Plastic waste in particular is extremely harmful

to sea life and there are many concerns about 'micro plastics ' entering the food chain via this route. Some

sea creatures mistake plastic bags for jelly fish and choke upon ingesting them. Much of the waste will

wash up on coasts many miles away. Even the pristine artic has been polluted by plastics. That’s not to

mention the risk of chemicals entering the water. It doesn't have to be something 'toxic'. Any material that

causes a significant shift in PH or nutrient balance etc. Could result in devastating impacts on a local

ecosystem. Those who litter have no respect for the law, and no respect for the other citizens who use

that road. There are two types of litterbugs, those who toss their trash out the window because they are

too lazy to dispose of it properly, and those who may have some type of trash in their car or truck, that

gets sucked out the windows or bed of a truck. However, in essence, those two are usually the same.
Failing to keep control of any item that may become litter is a shortcoming of the driver who has trash in

their vehicle. I have had empty plastic shopping bags in my car that got airborne due to my windows being

down, and they almost escaped, and, I have had bags actually escape my moving vehicle. If a person has

trash like this, it is always a good idea to weigh it down so that it can’t blow out the window. As a side

note, trash blowing around in your vehicle can cause an accident if it blocks the driver’s view of the road,

or, the driver becomes distracted trying to catch that wandering piece of trash. To avoid this kind of

scenarios and affects to our environment. If you see any people throwing garbage right in front of your

eyes, go and pick it up and throw it to somewhere appropriate place for the garbage like a dustbin.

Everything has to be done right in front of the culprits eyes. Let him see and realize his mistake. This makes

him feel ashamed and he at that very moment might try to ignore the scenario but the very night when

he's on his bed he's going to think back and hit his own forehead on the wall. Warning boards could also

help our mother earth because Warning boards which actually reflects a fine of x amount for the violators.

Humans have this natural tendency to be scared of paying bills. So, the warning labels with a fine amount

is apparently going to work. Get dustbins or use your old buckets/containers and place it near the defected

area or vulnerable spots. Let the dustbins/litter bin bear this kind of labels which should be fairly visible.

Write a letter to sanitary inspector/municipal council for cleaning garbage in your locality. Keep them

awake with repeated letters if they don't hear. Let’s together make our city clean, our country clean. We

all know health is our main priority.
