1 Introduction
Telefire's MCS-3000 Centralized Fire Alarm Systems Monitoring Software is a Microsoft
Windows™-based program that monitors fire alarm systems equipped with the
NET-3000 Internet Enabled Monitoring and Notification Module. The NET-3000 can be
installed in Telefire's ADR-3000 Analog Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel and
GSA-1000 Multi-Zone Conventional Fire Alarm Control Panel.
The MCS-3000 constantly scans over the LAN / WAN all configured panels, allowing the
monitoring of multiple fire alarm control panels, using a single screen that concentrates
the whole systems status including normal operation, alarm and trouble.
For security reasons the MCS-3000 does not allow remote control (activations) of fire
alarm control panels.
A single screen can display system summary of a large number of systems. Clicking on
any of the systems will open a browser window that will display the web page for that
system.

2 Application
The MCS-3000 Centralized Fire Alarm Systems Monitoring Software is particularly
suited for two applications:
1. Allowing key personnel in large, multi-sited organizations to centrally monitor a large
number of sites for any trouble or alarm events in Telefire's fire alarm control panels.
2. Allowing service organizations to provide value-added services to their customers
by monitoring their fire alarm installations.

3 System Requirements
• A PC with 166 MHz Pentium or higher processor
• 32 MB RAM
• Operating system: Windows XP Professional or later.
• 8 MB of hard disc space, 15 MB recommended
• Graphical Display
• Network Card and a connection to a LAN / WAN / the Internet

4 Installation
Perform the following actions to install the MCS-3000 on your PC:
• Insert the CD in the CD drive
• Change to the MCS-3000 directory
• Run the SETUP.EXE file
• Follow the on-screen installation instructions.
You will be prompted to enter your user information. Enter your name and company
name.

5 Running the MCS-3000 Program

Start the program by clicking the MCS-3000 icon or selecting START | PROGRAMS |

6 First Run
The first time the system is run it will show the error message Missing Net Config.
Correct this by adding fire alarm control panels to the configuration (see “Adding Fire
Alarm Control Panels” below).

7 Adding Fire Alarm Control Panels

There are two ways to add fire alarm control panels to the MCS-3000:
• Automatic searching.
• Manually, by adding the known IP address for each system.

7.1 Automatic Configuration

This method applies only to Local Area Networks.
Click on SITE MENU | LEARN NET.
The MCS-3000 will search for NET-3000 modules. Fire alarm control panels equipped
with NET-3000 that are in the same address range and are not blocked by a firewall or
accessed via an IP Network Address Translator (NAT).
Each NET-3000 address found will be added as a separate line. Click on the Update
NET CONFIG button to add the specific NET-3000 module to the list and confirm
verification.

Each NET-3000 card is factory configured to the default IP address 128.28.123.97
In order to change the address, if required, use the IP set-up utility (IPSETUP.EXE,
supplied on the CD).
Please refer to the NET-3000 technical manual for further details.
Click Add to add a new IP address. Enter the NET-3000’s IP address, its name, and the
street address of the site it is installed at. The last line is for a telephone number of a
contact at the site.

8 Editing Fire Alarm Control Panels

Click on SITE MENU | CONFIG NET
Highlight the appropriate line and click EDIT
Edit the fields as necessary and click OK to exit and save.
