.21st Century Skill-Conversation.

I like the people who can keep the conversation going, no matter how random the topics get.
And today I watched one of the episodes of Ted talks, hosted by Celeste Headlee. She is
the person I was trying to speak about at the very beginning of my article. The show is based
on the topic "10 Ways to have a better conversation."
Conversation as google defines it- "a talk, especially an informal one, between two or more
people, in which news and ideas are exchanged." It's a basic formula that helps us to
exchange our ideas or basically communicate.
The show also begins with funny scenarios that happen in our daily lives, where we avoid
talking to people. Speaking of today's worldly conversation, we are more polarized and
divided than we ever have been in history. A conversation requires a balance between
talking and listening, but these days we offended to talk than to listen. Basically, the side
effects of smartphones, most of today's generation are preferred to text their friends rather
than talking face to face.
The show then proceeds to the main subject that is 10 ways or rules to have a better
conversation, which includes:
1. Don't Multi-task, be in present. Focus on that conversation.
2. Don't Pontificate. Don't state your hard opinion unless it carries on the conversation. (I
think).
3. Use open-ended questions.
4. Go with the flow, don't stop listening, remove all other thoughts coming to our mind at that
moment.
5. Admit it if don't about anything or any topic.
6. Don't relate our experiences with others. Each one has unique experiences.
7. Don't repeat yourself. This lets the conversation to be more boring.
8. Details don't matter, leave them out.
9. LISTEN. – One of the most important skill. The more we listen the more we learn.
10. Be Brief
Concluding, one of the most important skills or the 21st-century skill is the conversational
skill. If we want a good job or good friends, the basic thing is that we start having a
conversation with them. Communicate with the intention to learn something new each time
we have a conversation. This skill can really help us coming future. So – " Go out talk to the
people."
