ANALYSIS OF FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE FOUND IN SURAH AL-HAJJ

OF THE HOLY QUR’AN ENGLISH VERSION

ABSTRACT
Figurative language is a language, which uses all types of creative writing
in order to describe or give meaning in words or sentences and make more
beautiful. Holy Qur’an is a sacred book that revealed from God to Prophet
Muhammad SAW in order to deliver for Moslems and as guidance in their life.
Most of people do not know if in the Holy Qur’an contain kinds of figurative
language in order to make beautify verses by verses
This study is about analysis of figurative language found in surah al-Hajj
of the Holy Qur’an English version. The researcher aims to: (1) identify kinds of
figurative language found in surah al-Hajj of the Holy Qur’an English version, (2)
find out the most dominant figurative languages found in surah al-Hajj of the
Holy Qur’an English version.
This research was conducted by means of descriptive qualitative design by
using objective approach. The researcher obtained the data through analyzed the
data in surah al-Hajj of the Holy Qur’an English version. There are 78 verses
contained in surah al-Hajj. After the researcher analyzed of figurative language in
surah al-Hajj, it was found the most dominant of figurative language used in surah
al-Hajj English version is figurative language symbol.
As the research result of data analysis showed that surah al-Hajj of the
Holy Qur’an English version used of figurative language are metaphor, metonymy,
symbol, personification, apostrophe and alliteration. The figurative language that is most
dominant is symbol.
