Lesson Topic: Girls screamed and weapt
Time: 50 min
Lesson aims:
-To practice reading and speaking skills;
-To develop oral interaction;
- To practice past simple of irregular verbs

Materials: textbook, pictures


Methods: brainstorming, conversation, explanation, examples

Stages of the lesson

Activity 1 : Warm-up
Aim :
-To create the proper atmosphere for the lesson;

-To get students’ attention.


Procedure:
In order to create a pleasant atmosphere in the classroom the teacher greets
the students and the person who is on duty tells who is absent. Then, in order to get
student’s attention, the T shows them some pictures with several rock bands. The
Ss have to identify the name of each band from those pictures.

Interaction: T-Ss
Timing: 5 minutes

Activity 2: Speaking and reading


Aim: - -To introduce the new topic of the lesson
-To develop oral interaction

Procedure : - T introduces the title of the lesson. Then the T presents Ss the
objectives of the lesson. After the students know the objectives of the lesson, the T
asks the T asks Ss what the title means. The Ss some questions before they read the
lesson. The questions are related to The Beatles.
-At exercise 1 the T will tell Ss a few things about The Beatles and asks the
students to read the text out loud. Each student will read a paragraph. Then, the T
will ask students to translate the text. The T will also show some photos of The
Beatles to Ss in order to be even more attracted to the lesson.
Interaction: T.-Ss, Ss-T
Timing: 13 minutes

Activity 3: Comprehension and writing


Aim: - To practice speaking skills;
-To know how to look for specific information.
Procedure: -At exercise 2T asks Ss to read the text again and write a date for each
headline. Then they will have to put the headlines in correct chronological order.
Each student will give his or her answer. The T lets them a few minutes to solve
the task.
-At exercise 3a Ss will have to give the past tense forms of those verbs.
Then they will have to look back at the text about The Beatles to check their
answers. The T helps and corrects Ss if it’s necessary.
- At exercise 3b the students have to complete the dialogue with the
correct form of the verbs.

Timing: 10 minutes

Activity 4: Writing
Aim: -To learn new iregular verbs;
Procedure:
-At exercise 4 the students will have to make a list of verbs which have irregular
past tense. The T tells them that some verbs are the same in the infinitive and past
tense. After they finish the task they have write the list on the blackboard.
-T helps them and corrects them if necessary.
Interaction: T-Ss; Ss-Ss
Timing: 10 minutes

Activity 6: Assigning the homework and feed-back


Aim: -To further practice vocabulary related to the topic.
- To check feed-back

Procedure: T tells Ss that they will have to invent a story in order to practice past
simple. Ss write down what they will have to do at home. Then, the T evaluates the
activity and to what extent what was proposed at the beginning of the lesson was
attained.
Timing: 2 minute
