MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
On behalf of the Board of Trustees of Minstrels Rhythm of Hope, Inc., I would like to
thank our Management Team, Instructional Managers, volunteers, sponsors and most
significantly our Founder, Mr. Alain Pronovost, who have contributed to our
organization's success this year.
Over the past couple of years, I have had the pleasure of watching MRHI truly raise the
bar for ourselves and for our members. While MRHI faced our share of challenges in
2016, as did all of our members, I have seen our organization come together and show
resilience, determination and a shared sense of purpose, working effectively as a unified
voice for a better living. While there were a few obstacles, what has shone through is the
steadfast commitment to help our beneficiaries and I’m pleased to share that, thanks to
the dedication, commitment and constant hard work of our team and all of our extended
family who participated in the working groups and other key initiatives, we saw many
notable successes in 2016.
Chief among them was the success of our Children's Choir's first Visayas Tour last
November 28 - December 12, 2016 in partnership with the YMCA of the Philippines.
The year also saw the opportunity to connect with the elderly as our Minstrels of Hope
lady singers was able to perform for the event intended for the senior citizens held in the
City Hall of Malabon and the show was aired last April 24, 2016 in News TV Channel 11.
To demonstrate the collective strength of MRHI, we have also completed some projects
The results of our projects so far are encouraging and over the coming years, we expect
to raise substantially enough financial assistance or more support to provide a secure
financial foundation for the operations of MRHI.
6
During our vast 10 years of experience we evolved, we have grown a lot as an NGO and
it brought us closer to our vision to deliver our commitment in learning and creating
substantial added value to our community. Our core values and the determination of the
staff are vital to our continued success with the support of our donors with whom we
work daily. The contribution by all members is also essential to all of us. Our staff has
worked tirelessly to raise the voice and profile of our foundation with other
organizations.
As we move forward in 2017 and beyond, I am truly proud of what MRHI accomplished
in 2016 and we are excited about our journey over the coming decades. Therefore we
welcome any idea for further improvement in order to carry out our vision and mission
while exceeding our clients’ expectations at all times. In closing, let me assure you that
MRHI is strong today and will remain strong tomorrow.
ABIGAIL V. AMPARO
President, MRHI Board of Trustees

ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
The success of this year would not have been possible without the support of many
individuals and organizations. Therefore we would like to extend our sincere gratitude and
appreciation to all those who provided us with enormous help and guidance.
First of all we are truly thankful to Le Monde Roncalli, Notre Dame Congregation,

logistical support and for providing essential guidance concerning projects and program
implementation.
Secondly, we are thankful to the Board of Trustees, Management Team, Instructional and
Assistant Managers, and Volunteers for sharing their expertise, technical support, and actual

To Mr. and Mrs. Salamon, who treated us as family, we truthfully appreciate your boundless
kindness, guidance, and support since the beginning. Thank you for the wisdom and assistance
that helped us accomplished our goals.

Finally, we give thanks and praises to God Almighty for His showers of blessings throughout
the year that allowed us to extend it to those in need and inspire others to do the same; for
giving us the power to believe in our talents and pursue our dreams. We could have never done
it without the faith we have in Him.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
2016 marks the 10th Year Anniversary of Minstrels Rhythm of Hope Inc., it is
indeed a very pleasant milestone for the organization. Right at the beginning of the year,
we had a seminar & workshop for the clients entitled "Making Learning Fun". This is
followed by the Annual Planning for FY 2017-2018 of the staffs, program instructional
and assistant instructional managers. The group also had two major tours this year: To
Europe and Canada. They describe the trips as among of the most memorable moments
of their lives and that they feel very blessed to have such amazing and rare opportunities.
It was through their remarkable singing skills that they were able to reach audiences
abroad as well as in the Philippines.
Just like every year, the organization held routine programs and recreational
activities specifically designed to benefit our beneficiaries. Swimming, Field Trips,
Socializations, Christmas and Back to School gift-giving, and more were held for all the
participants to enjoy and feel the happiness they deserve. Some of the participants also are
involved in various workshops and have the chance to join fun activities.
10
Our educational program remains to be a successful endeavor as we gain new
college and high school graduates who prove to be doing well in their respective fields.
We continue to support and prioritize learning and well-being, as these will help
beneficiaries face the reality and hardship of life after school.

Our work will never be complete without the boundless and inexhaustible support
and assistance of our donors who continuously and tirelessly share their blessings with
those we commit to help. We always thank them sincerely, from the heart and may God
continue to bless us all in another year to come.

B. SKILLS D EVELOPMEN T
The organization has four major programs designed to enhance talents and inner
skills that just need proper support and training. These are Arts and Crafts, Children’s
Choir, Theatre Arts and the Minstrels of Hope choir.
i. Arts and Crafts
Music is an excellent platform for children and youth alike to express themselves
at an early age. It also promotes a feeling of togetherness by singing as a group.
19
At the beginning of the year,
the children were taught the Fundamentals
of Music and were brought to the Virlanie
Foundation to watch other choral groups like
them.
The children's choir joined ATD Fourth World's Festival of Learning held at
During the Christmas season, the choir also performed at venues such as the
Century Park Hotel, ELKS Club, Manila Polo Club, NYK Shipping Lines,
DPWH, Rockwell Hotel, Johnson & Johnson's and F1 Hotel.
20
iii. Theatre Arts
Two major performances were held by the theater group; the showcasing
of theatrical talents to the ATD Fourth World's client through a short skit
and their stage play that tells the beginning of the Minstrels Rhythm of
Hope Inc. in 2006.
21
iv. Minstrels of Hope
The group performed during the senior citizens’ event held in the City Hall of
Malabon. The show was aired last April 24, 2016 in News TV Channel 11.
Performed at Solaire Resorts & Casino with the Kammerchor Manila at the
50th anniversary of Tupperware Company.
22
Sang the National Anthem
of Canada and the Philippines at the
“Canada Day” celebration last June 28,
2016 at Fairmont Hotel Makati. This was
organized through Canadian Chamber of
Commerce of the Philippines.
Half of the group attended the 30th anniversary of Kaibigan Ermita Outreach
Foundation Inc. wherein they performed a song for the board members, staffs
and community leaders of KEOFI.
Through the help of Ms. Doris Bohun, the choir was able to get exposure and
raise funds by performing several times from November to December at
Rustan’s Shopping Center (owned by the Tantocos). They were also invited to
sing at the Tantoco’s residence on several occasions.

C. BALIK-ESKWELA
PROGRAM
In June, the Minstrels Rhythm of Hope organized the Back to School event for its
beneficiaries themed "It's sCHOOl to be back". Children and youth alike were given basic
school supplies needed for the upcoming school year 2016-2017. A total number of 100
participants benefited from this activity. We value the efforts of our learners both in school
and in their programs within the organization, that is why we give honors and recognition
25
to them on the same event.
This was aimed to appreciate
them and boost their self-
confidence while encouraging
others to continue doing their
very best with their studies.
This event was made
possible through the generous
hearts of our beloved sponsors
- cash donations from our
friends abroad, goods from our
Board of Trustees, Mr. and

by the staff. When we asked the clients to write a feedback on what they learned from
the movie, most of them mentioned hope - that no matter how terrible the situation
is, we must not lose our hope.
d. Akeelah and the Bee – It was a great movie
which inspired the viewers to not give up
even if there are hindrances because they
are an important part of the process.
Each step has its own hazards, each a life
lesson if we are able to detach enough to
create perspective. At times the tests can
be brutal, they may even feel impossible.
That does not mean they are impossible

ANNUAL REPORT 2016 – CAPABILITY BUILDING
Participants were Volunteers and Instructional Managers of Bahay Musika and several
trainees of Minstrels of Hope.
30
The first topic, discussed by Ms. Abigail Rivera – Marquez, was about Personality
Development. The objective of the study was to boost self esteem, improve
communication skills, widen one’s knowledge, and learn etiquettes, manners and so
on. The facilitator asked us to list down the BIG FIVE which consist of personality
components; Openness to experience, Conscientiousness, Extroversion,
Agreeableness and Neurotisicm (emotionality). Interaction followed wherein different
kinds of definitions were given by both the facilitator and participants.
The second topic, Mentor Potentials was delivered by Ms. Donna Sarah L.
Rabino. It focused on establishing self confidence, developing proper public
communication, learning to adjust and socializing with others, etc. Exercises were
executed to expose each person to public speaking.
ii. Training
of Para-Professionals on Building Family Resilience for
Modified Conditional Cash Transfer (MCCT) Homeless Street
Families Needing Special Protection & Specialized Capability
Building For Social Workers In Handling Modified Conditional
Cash Transfer (MCCT)

iii. Early Pregnancy and Reproductive Health (May 17, May 31, June 26,
July 24, 2016)
The staff and volunteers enjoyed the Community Immersion done from May 23
32
Most of the staff were very emotional
during our evaluation, they all said that
the effort of the kids going to school just
by walking is very hard and that story
should be shared to others for it is a very
inspiring story to our beneficiaries who
are also the same age as them.
We also enjoyed the bonding with our
own host families, the experiences they
put us through, made us feel like we are
part of their families; they are all very caring and responsible especially in doing their
daily routines such as farming. The hype and the participation of the kids during our
activities were much enjoyed by the staff.
