DESCRIPTION OF THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STANDARD OPERATIONAL

PROCEDURES OF DIABETIC WOUND CARE AT PRIVATE HOSPITALS IN WEST


INDONESIA

Diabetes mellitus is a group of metabolic diseases with characteristic hyperglycemia that occurs due to
abnormalities in insulin secretion and insulin action. One of the complications from diabetes mellitus is
diabetic wound. This is due to several factors such as peripheral artery disease, blockage of blood vessels
in the legs and peripheral neuropathy as well as the leg nerve damage because of the glucose (sugar) level
in one's blood rises high. Other factors can be characterized by ineffective treatment of diabetic wound
and delayed treatment leading to infection. One of the nursing actions performed on patients with diabetic
wound at Private Hospital in West Indonesia is to perform wound care based on Standard Operating
Procedures (SOP) applicable in hospital. The purpose of this research is to know the description of the
implementation of operational standards of diabetic wound care at private hospitals in West Indonesia.
This research uses quantitative descriptive method. The population in this research is all nurses who work
at Private Hospital in West Indonesia. The sampling technique used is non-probability sampling with the
type of incidental sampling. Data analysis technique used is univariate analysis. This research was
conducted from January to July 2018.
