My name is Riyush Thakur and I am a 10th grade student enrolled in an Independent

Research course at River Hill High School. I am emailing you in order to express my
enthusiasm in researching the liability of self driving cars! According to a study done by the
NAIC claims that 93% of car accidents are the fault of the driver. However, the introduction of
self driving cars presents the opportunity to investigate the liability laws behind this number.

I’ve eagerly research my topic from the systems operating inside a self driving car to the
preliminary limited liability laws in place. I have approached a point where my independent
research course requires an advisor to help guide my research. Based on your work at the
American Law Institute and your experience in tort law, I humbly believe that your could be an
invaluable advisor for my research. As an advisor, you could provide guidance when I ask for it
and look over my research papers. I also read your article,”The Laws of Capitalism,” and I would
like to casually discuss the interesting side topics from Ayn Rand’s ideal view of capitalism to
constitutional law. Overall, I hope to advance my research and have educational conversations
with you as my advisor.
