gripped with a snap. Down he went to the ground. He knew what had
happened. He was caught by the other trap. He was not frightened at
first because he though he could set himself free but the chain would
not let him go no matter how hard he tried.
Just out of his reach lay the squirrel panting with pain and terror.

The Fox and the Stork
The fox and the stork were formerly good friends. They often
visited each other. One day, the fox invited the stork to dinner
because he wanted to play a joke on her. At the dinner table, the fox
put soup in a very shallow dish before the stork. The fork could easily
lap the soup, but the poor stork could only wet the end of her long bill,
So, she left the dinner table as hungry as when she came.
“Oh, please don’t apologize, “said the stork sweetly. “I hope you
will come and dine with me soon.
So came the day when the fox visited the stork. The stork served
their dinner in jar with a very long neck and a narrow path. All the fox
could do was lick the outside of the jar.

Global Warming
The people on earth faces a major problem called global warming.
Global warming occurs when the average temperature in many places on
earthrise. Environments will change as forming deserts. Icebergs may melt
causing the oceans to rise and flood many coastal areas. Although there may
take several years to happen, it is bound to happen.
We get energy from the sun in the form of heat. The extra heat should
bounce from the earth into space. This does not happen when the earth’s
atmosphere is full of polluted gases. The extra heat is trapped inside causing
the average temperatures to rise.
The extra heat trapped above the earth is called the green house
gases. Garbage burned in your backyard has greenhouse gases. Even the
wood used in cooking increases the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere
.Trees reduces the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Trees use
the carbon dioxide, one of the greenhouse gases in making their own food.
They give off clean air or oxygen. Another way to reduce the amount of
greenhouse gases is to plant more trees.

The air that surrounds the earth is called atmosphere. It lies around the
earth like a thick blanket. The atmosphere protects the earth from the sun’s
heat. If we have no atmosphere, the sun would fry the earth during the day
and freeze it during the night. The atmosphere helps keep in the heat, too.
Without the atmosphere, the earth’s heat would escape into the outer space.
Nothing could stay alive on earth without the atmosphere to protect us.

Directions: Read the paragraph. Write an outline how to play Cricket.
Cricket is played on a large, oval-shaped field. IN the center
of the field, two crickets ,consisting of three short stumps with
two balls (sticks) across the tops, are set up twenty-two feet (6.7
m) apart. The bowler, or player who throws the ball, stands
behind one wicket and overhandedly “bowls” the ball toward the
opposite wicket, trying to knock off one of the balls. However,
batsman of the opposing team stands near the wicket and tries
not only to defend it, but also to hit the ball. If the batsman hits
the ball, he and a companion batsman, who is positioned near the
wicket where the bowler stood, try to score runs. They score runs
by running to the opposite wickets before a member of the
fielding team, which has eleven players throws the ball and
knocks off a ball. The batsmen score a run each time they both
safely reach the opposite wicket. As many as six runs may be
scored from one hit. This bowling, batting and scoring process
continues until men on the batting team made an “out.” Then the
teams switch positions when both teams have made ten outs, one
innings in length often last several days with some players at bat
for many hours.

Astronomer find planet
NEW YORK- Astronomers say they are found what may be the smallest and
most distant planet known to be orbiting a star outside our own solar system.
The discovery suggests that such small rocky or icy planets may be more
common in the cosmos than Jupiter-sized gas giant planets, researchers said.
It also indicates the power of a relatively new method of finding such
“exoplanets discovered so far around distant stars are larger than Earth. The
newly found planet is about 5.5 times the mass of the Earth, making it much
smaller than most of the 160 previous exoplanets discoveries. AP
