Synopsis

Act One
On October 11, 2004, Benji Carter is sitting at his desk, in his science classroom,
listening intently as his teacher explains the project to them. To his surprise, the teacher
starts to pair the students with partners. Benji himself is placed with Jax Michaels which
makes them the only jock and nerd pairing.

Benji is talking to his twin sister Raelynn about how Jax is being rude to him, and
Anthony encourages him. Raelynn assures Benji that they were just messing around.
Jax pushes Benji down the steps after he hears Benji talking about him. He walks away
quickly when he sees Raelynn looking at him.

Raelynn sits outside doing her homework, and Tessa joins her. They talk about what
Jax did to Benji until it's time to go inside.

Benji is sitting with his friends at lunch. Somehow they end up talking about Jax liking
Raelynn, and Jax just so happens to hear them. He gets mad and knocks his tray of
food over. He walks out of the cafeteria and goes into the bathroom. (“Chlorine”) Jax
comes to the conclusion that he actually does like Raelynn. There’s just one problem,
he’s dating Samantha. While walking to class, Jax sees Raelynn and smiles at her. He
just hopes that Samantha didn’t see. (“Eastside”)

Despite Jax liking Raelynn, he has to keep up his reputation. In class, he talks to Tessa
and Samantha about Raelynn. He makes a nasty comment, not knowing Raelynn is
listening. She walks up to him and slaps him across the face. (“When There Was Me
and You”)

Benji, Raelynn, and Jax get on the bus to go home. Jax pretends to apologize to
Raelynn just so he can pick on Benji.(“Take a Bow”)

Raelynn, Benji and Jax are neighbors. The twins hurry and run into their house, and Jax
runs into his. Just so they can avoid talking. Seeing as their parents expect them to get
along.

While Raelynn and Benji do their homework, Jax and his parents come over to their
house. Benji remembers that he and Jax have to work on their science project, so Benji
goes out to the back yard. Jax talks to Raelynn before he goes outside (“Rewrite the
Stars”).

The science teacher tells Jax and Benji that they had to learn to get along if they wanted
to finish the project. A little ways into the project, Jax and Benji start to make jokes and
mess around.

Act Two
Synopsis

In her bedroom, Raelynn watches out the window, as Jax and Benji get along. Then,
she thinks about how Jax would never like her the way that she likes him. (“Never
Enough”)

In the kitchen, Jax and Benji’s parents talk about how they are glad that their sons are
getting along.

Benji asks Jax why he is being nice to him, after he is always rude to him. Jax just
shrugs his shoulders, then looks behind Benji and rolls his eyes. Benji looks behind him
and sees his and Jax’s parents watching.

Raelynn and Benji sit at the dinner table and talk to their parents about how their days
have gone.

Today is the day that Jax and Benji have to present their project. The other jocks and
nerds don’t like how well they are getting along. But they ignore it. For now.

After science class, Jax gives Benji a high five. He also apologizes to him for how rude
he was acting. (“From Now On”)

At lunch, Benji and Jax are seperated, because the other’s don’t think they should get
along. Samantha breaks up with Jax, because she thinks he is cheating on her with
Raelynn. (“Stick to the Status Quo”)

On the school lawn, after school, Jax and Benji work together with the help of Raelynn,
to stop the feud between the jocks and the nerds. (“Dancin”).

Still on the school lawn, thanks to Benji, Raelynn, and Jax, the jocks and the nerds have
come to a conclusion. Everyone is happy. Especially Jax and Raelynn. (“We’re All in
This Together”).
