How to Change a Tire

Step 1: Find a safe place to change your tire away from traffic and on flat land
Step 2: Make sure your car is in park and turn on hazard lights
Step 3: Get out the jack and spare tire
Step 4: Remove the wheel cover using the flat end of the lug wrench
a. If lug nuts are exposed you can skip over this step
Step 5: Loosen the lug nuts using the lug wrench turn the lug nuts counterclockwise. Do
not completely remove the lug nuts, wait until you remove the tire
Step 6: Place the jack underneath the car
Step 7: Raise vehicle with the jack
a.Raise the tire about 6 inches above the ground
Step 8: Unscrew the lug nuts and remove the tire completely
a.Grip the ture by the treads and pull it off gently until its free from the hub
Step 9: Place the spare tire on the hub
a. Line up the rim with the lug bolts and push the tire through until the lug bolts
show through the rim
Step 10: Tighten the lug bolts
Step 11: Lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts again
a.Use jack to lower the car but not all the way
Step 12: Lower the vehicle fully to the ground
a. Remove jack and tighten lug nuts again with the wrench
Step 13: Stow the tire away where the spare was kept
