Implementation of Health Education

Topic/Issues
Topic: There is a lack of health classes in LAUSD schools.

Issue: Teens are taking drugs and drinking alcohol without knowing the
consequences of doing so.
Facts
● 68% of U.S. 12 graders have tried alcohol.

● Regular marijuana use can cause a drop of IQ up to 8 points

● Teen drug addiction cause brain abnormalities slowed thinking, and impaired learning

● Our group interviewed a mother of a student.

- The mother was for health classes and believes it would make teen
wiser with their decisions.

● Researched district representatives such as George McKenna and


Monica Garcia.

● Personal Relevance: We want to educated about drugs.


Purpose
● We want our freshmen to be educated about drugs.

● Health classes will help the concerns of parents not having to worry
about teen pregnancy or about the use of drugs and/or alcohol when it
comes to the health of their children.
Goals of Project
Demand: LAUSD schools to establish health classes and make health classes a graduation requirement.

What We Learned

● It takes a collective and time to make change in a community. As well as


commitment and engagement with others.
