Program Rules and Guide to Participation

Guide to Participation

1. $75.00 PER KID

2. REGISTRATION BEGINS NOVEMBER 1
3. Registration can be done online

Program Rules
Eligibility

 The parent of the child will have to bring in a birth certificate, so we can acknowledge and figure out

what team and age group the child will be on. If you fall within the 8-17 age limit, then you are eligible

to be in the Round Robin Tournament. In addition, the student has to live in the county that the

Recreation Center is located in.

Registration

 When registering your child, you will have to follow along online and fill out everything that is stated

during the registration process.

 Parents and Child will have to come to the Recreation Center to sign a waiver because basketball is

inherently dangerous and there is a chance your child can get hurt.

Uniform and Equipment Policy

 We will have uniforms available to you. The uniforms will then be in the control of the parents. Failure

to bring the jerseys back to the Recreation Center when the season is over will result in a fee to pay, so

we can get another jersey.

 During the tournament, the facility is available to the participants and spectators of the tournament.

 Players cannot have any jewelry on them because this can result in injury to themselves or to others.

Award/Recognition

 There will not be individual awards handed out after the tournament is over

 There will be team trophies handed out to the team with the best record from each age division.

PROTESTS
If a team feels an official has misinterpreted a rule in the NFHS handbook, the protesting team must call a

timeout and protest to that official, who made the call. If the official made the correct call, then the play

goes on until there is a winner at the end. The game will be stopped to make a ruling from the Head of

Officials. Failure to call time-out and make an immediate ruling from the Head of Officials at the time of

the rule in question the protesting team can no longer protest the rule after the misinterpreted rule been

violated. In addition, they cannot protest the rule after the game. If the official’s ruling is changed, then

whatever the call was then is reversed and play goes on. If the protesting team still feels the ruling is

incorrect, it must contact the NFHS organization and explain what happened and what the misinterpreted

rule was and what should’ve been the correct call during the game.

Player Conduct

 If a player and a player on the opposite team get in a fight during a game, both players will

immediately be removed from the game and suspended for 2 games during the tournament.

o During suspensions, the player can’t be at the facility during the games.

 If a player is using an inappropriate gestures or profanity towards spectators, towards an opponent’s

bench, and towards the opponents, they will be suspended for 2 games during the tournament.

 If a player fights spectators or referees during the game, the player will be removed from the facility

and can no longer be a part of that tournament and any other future tournaments that are being held

at the Recreation Center.

Spectator Conduct
 If a spectator gets in a fight with another spectator, both spectators will be removed from the facility

by a tournament director and can no longer be in the Recreation Center during the tournament.

 If a spectator is using inappropriate gestures or profanity towards a player than the spectator will be

removed from the facility by a tournament director and can no longer be in the Recreation Center

during the tournament.

 If a spectator is using inappropriate gestures or profanity towards a referee than the spectator will be

removed from the facility by a tournament director and can come back to the Recreation Center until

their child plays again.

o If the same spectator actions continue the following game, then the tournament director will

remove the spectator and they can no longer be in the Recreation Center during the

tournament.

Forfeit Policy

 If there aren’t enough players that show up to fulfill 5v5 game. Then will have a total number of

players on the court based off the available players for that particular team.

 If there is a forfeit due to a coach not being available, then that team will play the next scheduled

team.

o The non-forfeiting team will get the win.

MARKETING AND PROMOTION

Our plan is to send out flyers to local schools to hand out to their students to promote our new league. We

could also go to local events and set up a tent to promote our new league. We also could allow people to

sign up on the spot if they decide they like the league.

Dicks Sporting Goods is the sponsorship we plan on working with. Dicks Sporting Goods does great work

with recreational communities especially when it comes to tournaments. Dicks Sporting Goods says, “we

believe Sports Matter because participation in sports makes people better.” They also went on to say,

“Sports increase confidence and motivate kids to stay in the classroom and aim for higher education.” We

will have Dicks Sporting Goods logo on our jerseys in return for helping us with the tournament. We also

plan on getting every player that is registered, to get their student schedule. The reasoning is so if they get

honor roll in school, Dicks Sporting Goods will give them a $25 gift card.
