Teachers Schedule

Leading up to the event


11th of July – Contact Marina Fitzpatrick to see if she is available to facilitate
the STEM events at the Noosa Leisure Centre

11th of July – Book the Coach for students to leave the school at 12:30 and return
at 2:45

17th of July – Sent the consent form home with students

27th-31st July – Remind students to return consent forms

1st of August – Final day for students to bring consent form in

Buy all of the materials for each challenge

Spaghetti – 30 packets
Rubber bands – 2 bags
Sticky tape – 15 packets
Scissors – 3 packets
Rulers – 1 packet
Paddle pop sticks – 2 packets
Marshmallows – 1 packet
Wikki sticks – 10 packets

 Print off 40 activity sheets for each of the challenges


 Buy 20 sheets of paper for groups to write their names to accompany their
designs

7th August (day before event)


3:30pm - Access the hall

3:30-5:30

Divide hall into two sections for the different challenges

 Set up microphone and speakers


 Set up 15 stations for challenge 1 on one side of the hall
 Set up 15 stations for challenge 2 on the other side of the hall
 Set up a test station for each of the challenges on either side of the hall
 Ensure each group has the activity sheet for the challenge

Day of Event - 8th August


12:15 –Students will meet at the bus zone and have names marked off roll
12:20 – Students will board buses and leave for The Noosa Leisure Centre

12:40 – Students will enter the Noosa Leisure Hall and sit as a whole group

12:40-12:45 –Introduce guest speaker Marina Fitzpatrick to students

12:45-12:55 – Marina Fitzpatrick will explain the two challenges that students
will be doing

12:55- 1:00– Students will be divided by their classroom groups. Students’ home
room teachers will stand at each end of the hall so that students know which
challenge they are doing first. Remind students of the group of 4 they are in and
hand out the activity challenge sheet

1:00-1:20 – Students will work on the first challenge and label it with their
names

1:20-1:35 –Students will demonstrate their building or bridge design and test how
much weight it can hold.

1:40- 2:00 –Students will swap challenges and begin the second challenge

2:20- 2:35 – Students will demonstrate their building or bridge design and test
how much weight it can hold.

2:35 -2:45 – Gather students back and announce the greatest design and
explanations of why it has been so effective.

2:50-1:00– Students return to school via bus
