First Day of School Year 2019-2020 (Orientation)

Grade 7- Humility
Welcome the Students

1. Arrive early.
2. Write your name on the board so students can remember it right away.
3. Have a fun activity laid out so students can become engaged as they settle in , consider an easy
writing activity or word search game. This activity is easy, a comfortable way to start the day.
4. Greet students at the door with a smile and a pleasant "Good morning!"

5. Do some fun ice-breaking activities to put everyone at ease.Ask the students to come infront of the
class one by one to state their name and nickname then think of a word that best describe them and
why.Students can write a three-part definition of themselves that includes physical characteristics,
personality traits, and favorite hobbies or interests. Definitions could also include a pronunciation key to
first and last names. Be sure to write a definition for yourself and then host a guessing game. For
younger students, give each child a chance to share the story of a favorite experience or why they are
excited about starting school.
6. Read a funny first-day-of-school story or a book about making and being a good friend to create a
pleasant mood and ease students' fears and anxieties.

7. Introduce the important features of the room and the school with a tour or scavenger hunt.
8. Present the most important classroom routines in a positive way, as you would a regular lesson.
Explain, discuss, and give students a chance to practice such routines and opening-of-day exercises.
9. Work with students to develop classroom rules.
10. Post a general schedule for lunch, recess, and class work. Emphasize and teach the routines that will
help students move into these periods quickly and efficiently. Remember, they won't learn it all in a day.
So, continue to emphasize and practice classroom routines for the first few weeks.
12. Post a daily schedule stating academic goals for the day.
13. Monitor and maintain constant contact with students as much as possible.

14. Deal promptly with behavior problems. Offer a lot of positive reinforcement for students picking up
on routines quickly.
15. Generate interest and enthusiasm by hinting at exciting new topics you plan to begin later in the
week.

Each group will be given jumbled letter. As I say go, everyone should
participate to arrange and figure out the word. The word should be posted on the
board. The group, who will win, will get a prize.

Since this is going to be the first lesson for the schoo l year, simply ask the
students what they know about the Filipinos during the Pre-Colonial Period.

D. Lesson Proper
-Show paintings and with a partner ask the students to describe the kind of life
the Filipinos had during the Pre-Colonial Period.
-Ask the students to state their agreement or disagreement with the statements
below and have them justify their answers.

1.The early Filipinos have high literacy rate.

3. They already had an advanced civilization.

Damiana L. Eugenio, a distinguished scholar of Philippine folklore


compliled and edited what may very well be considered as the most
comprehensive collection of proverbs in our country.There is a limited number of
works like this in existence. She spent a lifetime collecting pieces of folk
literature that reveal our ancestors’ wisdom.

APPLICATION

-Ask the students to read the words by row.Listen, repeat, and


remember the right stress to distinguish the heteronyms or the words
with the same spelling but with different pronunciations which carry
the primary stress on the first syllable for nouns, and on the second
syllable for verbs.Apply the right stress on the highlighted syllab les.
