I. Lesson Content / Topic Unit 1. Self Development


1. Knowing Oneself
LEARNING Objectives:
Define what is self and how this is related to personality
Knowledge (Knowing)

Understand the importance of knowing oneself and acknowledging strengths and limitations toward personal development

II. PROCEDURES: TEACHING PROCEDURES AND STRATEGIES TEACHING MATERIALS


A. ELICIT
(Introduction/Review)  On a sheet of paper the teacher will ask the students to answer the following: a) At this point in life can you
say that you already know what you want? b) Do you know your strenghts? c) Do you know what you need
to improve on? d) Do you know why you act the way you do? e) Can you say that you know who you are?

B. ENGAGE

C. EXPLORE
(Discussion / Presentation of Day 1
the Concept)  Getting to know each other. The teacher will intorudce herself to the students and explain the general
overview of the subjects to the students. The teacher will ask the students to intorduce themselves and ask
what are their expactations on the subject and the teacher. The teacher will tell the students what is her
expectaton from the sudents are.
Day 2
 Class rules and subject matter. The teacher will lay down the class rules to the class and also explain the
projects and what the students should prepare for the start of the subject. The teacher will also introduce the
subject’s specific overview and what they can look forward in class.
Day 3
 Lecture. Students will be presented with an overview of the chapter lesson. The teacher will discuss the
section about defining the concept of the self, identifying strenghts and weaknessess and the importance of
valuing one’s self.
 My unique self- in this activity the teacher will ask the students to work individaully and draw symbols that
would best illustrate their thoughts and feelings about who they are. When the time is called they have to
share in class their feelings and thoughts about the activity.
Day 4
 The teacher will contiue the discussion on concept of the self, identifying strenghts and weaknessess and the
importance of valuing one’s self.
 “Agreement with Myself”- The teacher will instruct the students to write an agreement with myself
document, make the students list down the things they desire to know more about themselves and the
changes they want to work on to improve as persons. The teacher will make them sign this document. At the
end of the semester, this document will be returned to the students so they will see what they have
accomplished during the semester.
D. Practical APPLICATIONS /
VALUES INTEGRATION of The teacher will divide the class into five groups then let the students list their own strenghts and limitations or
concepts and skills in daily challenges and share these with their groupmates in class. Knowing some of their sthrenghts and limitations or
living. challenges as persons, ask the students on how they can improve the way they deal with other people.

himself/herself in relation to what others perceive him/her, on their journal.
