    Abstract

    This paper tries to examine the emerging of popular traditionalism movement is initiated by
    millenial santri as a challenge to response popular Islamism movement in Indonesia through
    social media. By using sociological approach as a theoretical framework to study deeply the role
    of millenial santri in mainstreaming moderate Islam on social media such as facebook, twitter,
    instagram, youtube and so forth. In order to support it, a number of santri have created the media
    social accounts as a form to express their cultural and religious identity. Therefore, the basic
    questions on this paper of how does santri activities in the jihad of literacy on social media?to
    what extent the role of millenial santri in mainstreaming moderate Islam on social media?
