PROPOSAL

Rationale:
Over the first seven units, I feel that I have enhanced my skills in all elements. However, the most
notable for me would be editing and presenting. In this unit, I will work on my own which I believe
will give me the best opportunity to show off the two highlighted skills. I will be able to write the
script and perform it to camera in my own words and in my own style. I will also be able to edit it as I
intend and how I visualise it to be. I think that this will give me the best chance to show how much
my skills have developed across the past 6 months.

Project Concept:
I intend to produce a sports documentary focused on Speedway. In this documentary, ideally I would
like to follow the journey of one young rider and his progression through the sport. I think that this
sport provides the perfect opportunity to film because of its lack of notoriety. I also think that for a
young rider, it would be a good opportunity to gain some free publicity for sponsorship deals. I also
believe that this idea is not only niche and original, but also focuses on a high-octane and interesting
sport that doesn’t get the publicity that it perhaps deserves. When working on this documentary, I
anticipate that I will learn many different skills and enhance the skills that I have already learnt. For
example, I think I will learn a lot more editing techniques and enhance my interview technique and
work on lighting and creating a mood.

Evaluation:
In order to ensure that I am constantly working to the high standard that I want to achieve, I will
receive regular feedback from my teachers and adjust/improve my work as and when applicable. At
the end of each week, I will complete weekly blogs so that I can build an evaluation portfolio with in-
depth analysis from each week and each piece of work. At the end of the editing process, I will also
write one final evaluation of the whole project.
