Facts

Some important Facts about this policy are:

● The Trump administration has justified the policy by pointing to an increase in

southwest border apprehensions in 2018.
● From may 6th-may 19th, 658 children were separated from their parents because of
this policy.

Stakeholders

● For the interviews we had coordinate a meeting with Peace Over Violence.
● Some Personal Connections we have for this issue is that in our school we have
immigrants that come from detention centers and newcomers.
Purpose

We chose this issue because many immigrant families are being separated.
This policy had also has an effect on the undocumented students of our school and their
families.
Goals of Project

Demand: Our demand is to Eliminate Trump’s zero tolerance policy so that everyone who
crosses the border shouldn’t be charged with criminal proceeds. There should be alternatives
for detention centers for example check-ins at the ICE offices, home visits, telephonic
monitoring for families with lawyers. Policy for families in the proceeding.
Civic Actions

● Created a petition
● Challenges were half of the teammates didn't show up. Phone Calls were not
answered. Some Successes were Students in LASGS signing our petition.
Impact of the project

● Our petition got 200 signatures

● The press conference brought a lot of attention
● The press conference was shown on Telemundo
