The objective of this project is to raise awareness towards ending the war in Afghanistan.
The war in Afghanistan had been ongoing for 18 years, only getting worse as it continues. My
goal is to reach out to the community to possibly come up with a plan to end the war.
Afghanistan is remains in shambles. Several families have lost their homes, and their lives. Many
American soldiers have been killed, or left with serious post war injuries that they are left to live
with.
The country should join me and come together in efforts of ending the war because of all
the American lives that were lost or left psychologically damaged post war. A little over 2.7
million Americans have fought in the war, seven thousand service members and eight thousand
private militants killed. Fifty three thousand veterans returned home physically and mentally
wounded, due to the extent of the war. Families still grieve the loss of loved ones killed by
terrorists in Afghanistan. Life after life taken, trillions of dollars spent because President Bush
wanted our troops to fight terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq so we didn’t have to in our own
backyard. If we don’t end the war now things could potentially get worse. The war can possibly
move to America, putting many American lives at risk.
In my fourth blog post, I found an article written by The Atlantic which summarized
President Trump’s plan to smoothly remove America from the war. According to the article,
Trump wants to negotiate a withdrawal with Afghan troops within the next eighteen months in

exchange that the Taliban won't commit any terrorist attacks. The problem with this, Former U.S
ambassador Ryan Crocker thinks that the U.S should negotiate something that is politically
agreeable and not an all out surrender. In my opinion, I think the negotiation is a good idea. The
war started because of a terrorist attack (9/11) and fighting has been ongoing for a decade, I think
that it's best for both sides to sit and talk about a way to end this without putting lives in danger.
The action plan below will consist of our community and our country raising awareness/
getting the attention of others about the war. Together we should spread the word to people about
the effects the war has on on our veterans, families and our country. We should reach the
attention of our government, with the goal of establishing quicker measures in aiding the issue of
this war. Our government should plan out a negotiation strategically giving Afghan troops what
they want (removing ourselves from their country), while we get what we want (a ban on the
taliban committing terrorist attacks).
