13. Prizes
The following Prizes will be awarded:
(a) Running Shield
The 'Nehru Running Shield' will be awarded to
the Navodaya Vidyalaya declared first at the
national level Completion. If a particular
vidyalaya wins the shield for three consecutive
years, it will be retained permanently by that
vidyalaya.
(b) Trophies
(i) The vidyalaya declared first in the
competition will also be awarded another
merit trophy.
(ii) One Trophy each will be awarded to the
vidyalayas which are declared first in their
respective regions at the regional level
competition.
ANNEX XV-F
After holding the meeting the minutes thereon are circulated to all
concerned. After receiving the names of the participating vidyalayas
from NVS, literature on the Youth Parliament is sent to all participating
vidyalayas.
Orientation Course
To acquaint teachers-in-charge of the 'Youth Parliament' in the
participating vidyalayas with the concept and background of the
scheme, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, in cooperation with the
Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, organises Orientation Courses.

Results of the Competition
After completing the competition, the results of the whole
competition are declared by this Ministry. The following actions
are then taken:

(a) Rent of the hall/shamiana;
(b) Lighting and seating arrangements;
(c) Printing of invitation cards;
(d) Postage and stationery;
(e) Refreshment; and
(f) Other contingencies.

ANNEX XV-H
Orientation Course
Prior to holding a competition, an Orientation Course is
conducted by this Ministry to acquaint coordinators organising
the 'Youth Parliament' in the participating institutions with the
concept and background of the scheme.
(i) AnMP/ex-MP/MLA/ex-MLA/MLC/ex-MLC;
(ii) A coordinator to be appointed from among the
institutions participating in that group (for evaluating
the performance of the coordinator's own institution
another nominee from amongst the other participating
institutions of that group would sit on the evaluation
panel instead of the coordinator); and
(iii) An academician of repute from a non-participating
institution.
For National Level Competition
(i) An MP/ex-MP/MLA/ex-MLA/MLC/ex-MLC; (ii)
An officer of the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs; and (iii)
An academician of repute from a non-participating
institution.

Financial Assistance
The following financial assistance is provided by this Ministry
for holding the Youth Parliament Competitions:

To Institutions
An Institution is provided financial assistance for
holding group level competition up to Rs.5,000 on production
of a statement of expenditure supported by original vouchers.
The institution participating in the national level competition
would be eligible again for such financial assistance.
To Group coordinators
A group coordinator is provided TA/DA on production of
his TA claim in the proforma prescribed in his institution.
The TA is restricted up to the fare of AC-II tier by train.
Expectation of the Ministry
Competitions at the Group Level are organised through
group coordinators. The competitions at the national level are
evaluated by the Committee of Judges including an officer of
this Ministry. Presently, this Ministry is consolidating the
results of the group level as well as national level
competitions. We expect the UGC to organise the
competition at both the levels and compile the results
themselves and inform the Ministry about the particulars of
the institutions securing the first position at the group level
as well as the national level for organising the Prize
Distribution Function.
The Committee of Judges for evaluation of the Youth
Parliament Competitions can be re-constituted suitably as per
the suggestions of the UGC.
Prize Distribution Function
After completion of the whole competition, a Prize
Distribution Function is organised to distribute the prizes,
certificates and trophies to the participants at suitable place -
normally at Mavalankar Auditorium, New Delhi.
The following actions are taken to organise the Prize
Distribution Function:
