 Samosir Island Tourism – Samosir Island is a large volcanic island and
situated in the north in the isle of Sumatra in Indonesia, Lake Toba in North
Sumatra. Samosir Island is governed as 6 of the nine districts in Samosir
Regency. The lake and island were built after the eruption of a supervolcano
some 75,000 years back.

The island was initially connected to the surrounding caldera wall by a small
isthmus, which was cut through to help navigation. At 640 square kilometers,
Samosir is the biggest island within an island and the fifth largest lake island
on the planet. It likewise consists of two smaller sized lakes, Lake Sidihoni
and Lake Aek Natonang.

Throughout the lake on the east from the island lies Uluan Peninsula. The
island is connected to the mainland of Sumatra on its western part by a
