When the boiler is to be started from the cold state in which no steam is available, use the starting DO for fuel till steam necessary for the oil heater becomes available, Fill the boiler with fresh water, It is advisable to fill the boiler up to 50-80mm above the normal water level, Light off the burner using DO with the NOR tip which condition is operated by ‘F.O TEMP BYPASS MODE’, burner normal mode, before lighting off never fail to ‘PURGE THE FURNACE ADEQUATELY’, Close v/v’ s of the HO lines from the fuel tank to the burner manifold & open v/v s of the DO line from DO tank, Start FO pump and open oil recirculation v/v to discharge HO remaining in the line, burner manifold & oil inlet pipes to burners thoroughly. Run the forced draft fan with inlet vanes closed, Ignite the burner using the pilot burner, When the steam pressure has risen to about 0.2Mpa, start warming the steam pipe lines and the feed water pump pipe lines and turn the steam to the settling tank, When the HO in the settling tank has been heated enough to be pumped by FO pump turn on steam supply to the oil heater in preparation for change over from DO firing to HO firing, Circulate oil thro the oil heater & oil circulation line till the oil of the proper temperature is available in the burner manifold, then Switch DO firing to HO firing and continue pressure rising, Start the feed pump as early as possible so that it can feed water to the boiler immediately when the drum water level should fall
