To Whom It May Concern:

During the past four years I have had the pleasure of working with Wade Grinhaug as both a special
education teacher at Ankeny Centennial High School and most recently as a Behavior Coach at the
district level. Additionally, I have been Wade’s direct supervisor. During this time, I have witnessed the
outstanding skill set Wade has. Please consider this correspondence as a personal and professional
reference on Wade’s behalf as he applies for Ankeny Centennial High School’s Dean of Students
position.

During the course of the past four years, Wade has demonstrated a strong knowledge of instructional
best practice and behavioral problem solving. As I have consulted with him about his coaching, it is
apparent that Wade has a very strong classroom management and instructional style. Additionally, his
work coaching and participating in behavioral problem solving is a highly desirable skill and one that
would serve Ankeny Centennial High School well if Wade were to be named as Dean of Students. Wade
has built strong and effective student and staff relationships as a teacher, and is now able to coach
others to do the same. This is a much needed skill in Ankeny Schools at this point in time. Several
teachers and principals throughout the district have made a special point to mention to me how much
they appreciate his support.

During the past two years, Wade has adapted amazingly to his district coaching role. He has been able to
successfully navigate the political climate which is inevitable at a district level. He has the skill and
patience to remain calm and maintain a professional demeanor during difficult situations, which is a rare
and valuable talent. I trust Wade’s judgement when difficult situations arise, as he has shown an ability
to appropriately determine when guidance is needed.

Wade mentioned to me earlier this year that he was interested in pursuing an administrative degree and
leadership position. I highly encouraged Wade to do so because of his specific knowledge and skill set. I
support Wade is his endeavor to learn more about leadership and fully support his desire for
professional advancement.

Please consider this my strongest possible recommendation for the position of Dean of Students that
Wade is seeking. If further information is needed, I can be reached on my cell phone (515) 971-9628.

Respectfully,

Lisa Glenn

Officer of Special Programs, Ankeny Schools
