Dear Capt. & CE,

We have noted that most of the time the chronological order and the entries
are made wrongly in the ORB with respect to Bilge holding tank cleaning.
Please find below the entries which are required to be made in ORB. Contents
of Bilge holding tank cannot be Zero , only by disposing using Bilge pump or
OWS,
And therefore a manual operation is always involed.

Below is for Example only.

Kindly refer to EMS Manual Annex 8 Section 8.1.5 as attached along with
guideline highlighted.

Example:
********
Bilge water holding tank had 2.00 m3 of bilge water.
Only 1.20 m3 can be transferred to bilge evaporation tank or disposed
overboard through the OWS. An entry needs to be made 1st in his regard.
0.80 m3 remains un pumpable. For this un pumpable quantity following entries
are to be made.

1st entry for the transfer of bilge holding tank (sec 3.3 tank) to a sludge
tank- (section 3.1 tank.) under code D.
2nd entry to be made for initiating a manual transfer under code C item -
11.1 to 11.4. NOTE: quantities in both the entries to be same.
3rd entry under code I for the cleaning and inspection of the bilge holding
tank.
