Abstract

Presently our environment is getting warmer and warmer due to global warming or the observed
century scale rise of the earths average temperature. Potential dangers exist in being in the heat for
long periods of time and study shows that one of the effects of global warming, is heat stroke, which
occurs when the body temperature reaches 104 degrees Fahrenheit due to long periods of heat
exposure. So the researchers came up with a study to create a material which produces cool and fresh
air anytime, anywhere. And most specially to reduce the risks of heat stroke.

The researchers named the project “portable air cooler”. IN order to create it, first gather all the
materials and equipment’s needed. After that clean the plastic bottle and jars, to remove the plastic
labels. Then attach the 6 inches (diameter) plastic propeller to the tip of the DC motor, then make a hole
on the cover of the jar that is enough for the DC motor to fit. Then, use a soldiering iron to create small
holes on the cover of jar to vacuum the hot surrounding air, and make it cool as it goes out. And after
that, the 9 volts’ battery was connected to the DC motor using a soldiering iron and a soldiering wire,
and the battery was attached to the side of the jar using hot glue gun. All are secured using hot glue gun.

The portable air cooler is not only for persons who wants to secure themselves from the risks of heat
stroke, but it can also be used by students, teachers, office workers, etc. to relieve themselves from
stress and exhaustion. The study about the portable air cooler is also environment friendly, not only
because it doesn’t involved chemicals but also because all the parts of the product except for the
battery, are all recycled including the DC motor, since it was taken from an old toy train. The researchers
tested the study several times just to make sure that it successfully works. The variables tested in the
first test are the size of the propeller and the number of ice cubes , while on the second test, the
researchers tested on what is the state of the ice cubes for a period of time, to determine the right time
of refilling the product with ice. After all, the researchers are still continuing to improve the product for
better results, and for it to not only cool one or two persons, but instead a room.
