Competency: ENG7V-Ia-4.2

III. Developmental Activities:

Activity: Let the learners listen as the teacher reads the poem aloud. Let them check if figurative language is
used.
Analysis: Process question:
-What is the poem all about?
-What are the different gifts that you can give to the city?
-What does the speaker encourage us to do?
Discuss what the poem is all about and the key ideas in it.
Abstraction: Let the learners sum up what they have learned from the poem. Encourage learners’
participation.
Application:Group Activity. Let the learners identify the main idea of the poem written on a gift tag.

IV. Evaluation: Enumerate the gifts the speaker/persona would like to give to the city.

V. Assignment:
Cite similarities and differences between simile and metaphor
