1. OBJECTIVE:
The objective of this standard is to maintain uniform test procedure to evaluate the Impact
behavior of various interior and exterior trim materials used in vehicle e.g. Instrument panel,
Bumper, Headliner, Carpet etc, so that the component must meet the M&M criteria
requirement.

2. SCOPE:
The standard defines the test method for measuring Cold impact behaviors of automotive

polymeric components which is used in interior and exterior trim parts in the entire range of
M&M vehicles

8.1. GENERAL SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

8.1.1. The raw material suppliers & the component manufacturers must conform to the quality
system requirements TS 16949 / ISO 14001 / Government regulations, etc, as applicable.

8.1.2. A process control plan for ongoing production verification is required. This plan must be
reviewed & approved, prior to production part submission, by the concerned M&M Material
Management team.

8.1.3. Appropriate statistical tools must be used to analyse process / product data & assure
consistent process of material & parts.

8.1.4. The parts made of this material shall conform to following legislations with respect to the
Marketing Location:

• Control of Hazardous Chemical Substances as per F-00-0387 STD -European Market.


• Control of Hazardous Chemical Substances as per F-00-0668 STD - US Market.
• Control of Ozone Depleting Substances as per F-00-0782 STD -European Market.

• Control of Asbestos content & its guidelines as per F-00-1337 STD – All markets.

8.2. FT-IR SPECTROPHOTOMETRY AND / OR THERMOGRAVEMETRY ANALYSIS:

8.2.1. The M&M may conduct the above study of material / sheet supplied to this standard,
produce the Spectra / thermo grams and keeps the same in file as master/ reference for

10.1. A falling ball test device should be used with respect to following conditions to ensure impact

10.2. The Part should be fixed/placed properly (tightly), so that it should not shake or move while

10.4. After the cold conditioning of samples, the part should be tested immediately within 30 sec.

11. ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA:


Following the impact test, visually examine with naked eye that there should not be any crack
or breakage on the part and also report should be as per the annexure.

12. TEST REPORT:


The final test report shall include the followings:

13. SUPPLIER’S RESPONSIBILITIES:

13.1. All the materials supplied to this specification must be equivalent in all characteristics to the

material upon which approval is originally granted.

13.2. Prior to make any change in the composition of material grade and /or processing
technique which was originally approved & supplied under these specifications. The

13.5. For approval of the material, the supplier must fulfil the above requirements to M&M COE –
Materials Technology (Polymer) through Material Management Team for evaluation at
M&M Ltd.
13.6. M&M engineering approval of this material shall be made on the basis of the test results, its
performance in the vehicles, assessment on the suitability of the intended process &
application, etc.
